Nice video. I would like to add that in order to apply the rule on a prefix, one should use transactions as opposed to /transactions. This is how it is in the new UI, not sure about old UI. Another thing is to verify if the expiration time appears on that prefix's file. Here's how: aws s3api get-object --bucket bucketname --key /transactions/testfile.txt outfile

Nice and simple explanation. So in the end we have 3 transition rules. could you explain what we would have after for example 100 days? As I see it now, I'll have data in S3 IA, and the same data in Glacier, right? Or the data in S3-IA will move to Galcier?

Here's a part that confused me. Is it /folder or folder/ for the prefix.

I'm not sure its instant but it will definitely be applied eventually.

Thank-you very much for recording this video. A new S3 layout and requirements was rolled out in late fall 2020. You'll get an "Upload Failed" error stating the following: . Clean up incomplete multipart uploads Because of the errors/cancellation of this upload, you might be storing multipart uploads that can't be viewed on the console. We recommend that you create a bucket lifecycle rule to permanently delete incomplete multipart uploads . You now need to go into the bucket to find the Management tab. In my case, I needed to set up the section about deleting multipart uploads. Otherwise, the options are pretty consistent with what you've laid out from there.
