Somersault is a gift for those who grew together with the band. With this the whole sequence of albuns is a masterpiece

To the people who think that everything sounds like Tame Impala when they hear a phaser: even Tame Impala was initially trying to revive 60's psychedelic rock before taking on a more synth pop/R&B approach in their third album. Nothing is original; enjoy the music for what it is and let artists explore. Somersault is a great album; I give it an 8/10.

Somersault to me is one of the best records of the last 10 years. So many monster songs, vibey, harmonies. Has it all.

This album has grown on me so much and, as much as I love their old sound, I respect them a lot for changing it up every time. That's what puts them head and shoulders among lots of the similar sounding bands that came out around the same time imo

The songwriting on this record is just phenomenonal.

Somersault is such an incredible album, good to hear their live renditions stack up so well against the album versions. That bit in Be Nothing around 6:40 where it breaks out is so dreamy & beautiful.

Somersault is a break from the youthful haze of their previous records. The lack of energetic drumming combined with more laidback, spaced out melodies mark their intent to retreat from the punk driven era of their lives. The variety of soundscapes found in this record reach for a more mature, meditative phase in their music: Beach Fossils as a band name is a reminiscence of a more nostalgic, carefree attitude, and those who have been following them since their first album should know that this band is a hallmark of the diffuse art that indie music is. Beach Fossils have influenced a plethora of different bands by establishing a solid teenage spirit in the ever-changing scene of indie music - Somersault, I believe, is a rebellious reaction to that teenage spirit they have laid out. I’m loving it so far, but I’d love to see them kicking back with another disobedient, juvenile sonic stamp - and I think that’s exactly what the current indie scene needs.

This is awesome. I love their older albums, but this stuff is great. So good, just ran to itunes and downloaded Somersault. Great songs- and a great production, but in some ways I like the sound of this live performance more than the album- weird....

This band used to be terrible live. Would see them in Brooklyn all the time. Good to see different members of the backing band and a more refined approach.
