Excellent work, I like how you showed the second setup in the same video. The Acme screw thread and spring loaded return are top notch work. Thank you for posting your work.

Nice mods. Im planning a resto on a 1981 F100 so I'm watching beadroller videos to deternine the feasibility of rolling my own bed panels. Looks doable so far. Patch panels cost so much and this truck is pretty rough - inherited it - so I want to repair more than I replace. Thanks for the video.

Best mod video. I'm so gonna copy your ideas! Thanks man! I was thinking about mounting mine on an arm off the side of my homemade 4' metal brake though to take up less real estate in my tiny shop. I figured they go hand on hand? Thanks for the great mods!! Especially the c clamp and spring bit!

Very nice, I just got mine today. I do like several of your mods especially the threaded foot from the Clamp. Looks like it might be easier to cut it off and reweld to achieve that Mod. I have a Wheel Chair Motor coming off eBay to power it with and a foot pedal from Amazon. Should be a fun project. Didn't really need a Bead Roller, just wanted one.

I got an Eastwood Manual beadroller in early 2007 and bit the bullet and got an electric one from Metal Man tools a few months later. The reason being, I had neither the skills or patience to motorise the Eastwood one. One thing I did do with the Eastwood beadroller however was to modify the existing roller dies by adding a removable 1mm aluminium sleeve to allow all the dies to fit the slightly smaller Metal Man shaft.

Gotta say this video made me sub And while I like all you did I’d recommend against a treadmill motor as they spin at about 3000rpm And have tonnes of power in its higher rpm range they have almost no power at their bottom range Instead I’d recommend a windshield wiper motor instead as they are geared down (stepper motor) already and have more power than you’d even think possible once geared to your roller Oh and you can get them with multiple speeds and for the same price (free)

Thanks for checking out the video, and the motor suggestion. I still haven't powered mine as in my shop it doesn't get used a lot, so it slips down the priority list.

How is the spring modification attached? I like that and would like to apply it to my roller. Is the fence removable on your friends roller? It does reduce the throat a bit. Thanks. Nice job

The spring for retracting just sits over the bolt that threads into the upper guide. The fence on my friends is removable. Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks for sharing. I'm getting ready to make a stand for mine. Any reason you dont like the side mounted stand?
@kellysrestorations.7397
@kellysrestorations.7397 4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay in reply. Nothing wrong with the side mounted way. I wish rather than welding it, I would have made it unboltable, although I'm not sure I would ever take it apart. Side mount does give you the option of rolling something like a barrel though.

Just wondering which brace was better, the square tubing or the flat stock? Thanks for sharing.
@kellysrestorations.7397

I'm not sure one was better than the other, both are likely stronger than needed. It just came down to the materials at hand at the time. Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks for the video and great ideas! How heavy gauge can this go, with the mods? Do you think 16 ga is possible without harming the machine?
@kellysrestorations.7397
@kellysrestorations.7397 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching it! 16 ga is kind of pushing it's limits, but it is possible to do it in 2 or 3 passes.
@AerialLensVideo

@@kellysrestorations.7397 I was thinking that, too -- it's just an occassional project (art) thickness anyway amoung mostly 18 and 20 ga stuff, so definitely worth a try. Thanks!

Did you machine a new foot for the Clamp Bolt?
@kellysrestorations.7397
@kellysrestorations.7397 4 жыл бұрын
The round foot on the clamp bolt is from the clamp. It was just crimped over the ball end of the threaded part.
