These Method Bead grips are very revolutionary. Today, I want to push them to the limit and see how low I can go without losing a bead. The fact that you can basically get the same level of performance as a beadlock wheel in a simpler lighter package AND still be DOT legal is pretty wild.

I've had a ton of wheels come off the bead over the years. Quite a few that got a small puncher and lost air overnight. The next day, the tire had fallen off the bead just sitting there, lol. So, the fact that I've seen three flat tires be driven on with no issues and now reading your experience speaks volumes of how brilliant this product is. I've ordered two more sets...

Hey Nate! Two of the guys in my wheeling circle runs those wheels and we snow wheel every weekend, the proof is in my channel. We are just south of you. They both run around 2 psi in the snow and have never lost a bead, one thing someone brought up thou that I never thought of is if you need to put a boot on the inside or need to do a massive repair you will definitely not be able to get the tire debeaded on these wheels, so that’s where an actual beadlock has a benefit, I never thought of this until someone brought it up. I still want a set but something to keep in mind. The beadlock is 32 bolts away from being able to get to the inside of the tire.

I have been running those same method wheels since they first came out. And I love them. As I recall, Method has a patent on the bead grip design. So you won’t see them on other brands. But method does offer several different designs in the trail series now if you don’t like the wagon wheel look.

I've got a set of AlphaEquipt wheels with the "beadgrip" it's just designed differently. I've yet to see how well it functions in the real world because I've only had them on for about a month, but I'll be at Lonestar Toyota Jamboree so I guess we will see then. I liked them because they offered them in a "pizza cutter" spec so I can run my tall skinnys but still sit nice in the fenders. Plus they had a white option. I was trying to get away from the black.

Dave’s truck is so cool, awesome vintage rig. One of those cars that you used to see a decent amount but have totally disappeared off the roads because of rust and just the fact they were cheap cars few bothered to preserve and maintain. Amazing that so much of the body is cut away yet he still kept such a density of recognizable styling cues that while not looking factory it still looks intact, nicely done.

I was thrilled at how they were working at 9psi but I saw this video a week ago and just had an absolute blast in Sand Hollow running at 5psi doing low and some middle speed sand stuff. Unbelievable traction and everyone else in my group had regular beadlocks. Considering the weight and cost savings plus the convenience I’ll never go back to 2 hr torque-a-thons again. I do wish theyd come out with a rash ring though like Teraflex which is like HDPE or something. Thanks again Nate!

Fantastic video and review. I've had experience with track wheels that have little knurls (horizontal hashings) on the bead surface to prevent slippage, and have a set of Venomrex wheels that have similar. Havent seen the longitudinal gooves before though, looks like it should help keep that friction and pretty cool to see it work even at 0 psi.

Poor baby got T-Boned so I bought the new Silverado ZR2, put 17" 701's on it with 35" KM3's, been down to 10 psi ton of times never needed to go lower with the truck yet in the snow, super super happy with the wheel, and to top it all off it's a lighter wheel than the factory Chevy wheel. I COMPLETELY agree with you on the compound quality being the make or break difference on the tires seating to the wheel and getting the most potential out of the Beadgrip.

The key is also wheel width. The narrower the wheel the better the tire stays on. I destroyed the sidewall of a 37 km2 from rim to tread on a stump. I had it mounted on a 15x8, and with a 8” sidewall gash, I was able to 4 miles off-road on it and 7 miles on road without that tire moving on the rim. On the road the tire was folding over on it self and throwing tread, but the bead held the whole time.

the disadvantage is that it's still a traditional wheel when it comes to installing a tire. you will have to take it to someone or use a shop machine to install tires. that's what I like about the Beadlock style, it allows you to install tires yourself at home. I've had too many tire installers in the past mess up lug nuts on traditional truck wheels to where I remove the wheel myself and bring it to them to install a tire.

You should be able to half that safely in soft terrain. Your minimum psi is going to be way different than his though, it has everything to do with how much weight is on the tire. Your truck will likely pop a bead at 5psi or more whereas his could run just about flat without issue. Run what works and don't get hung up on a number.

As a tire person, I have always disliked the inner bead on the bead grips. They can take a long time and a lot of tricks to break loose with a tire machine... But then I saw you potentially had an inner bead slightly slip loose and you changed my mind. That would have been a lot worse with a traditional inner bead. Turns out that the inner grippy bead is worth it! Still much easier than dealing with traditional bead locks. I definitely want these one day!

The other really nice thing about the bead grip is balancing! Generally balancing beadlocks is nearly impossible so you always have a shake on the road.
@Skinflaps_Meatslapper
@Skinflaps_Meatslapper Жыл бұрын
The downside to the bead grip is the same issue...balancing. With a beadlock, your wheel isn't going to spin inside of the tire, it's locked down on the bead. With the bead grip at really low psi, the wheel will absolutely spin inside of the tire. So if you have them balanced and go wheeling, they won't stay balanced for long. If you can find a tire shop that will balance beadlocks for you, they're a lot more likely to stay balanced.

100% agree with the one piece vs the 32 bolts on the icons. I made the choice to go with the icons simply for that extra .01% security I wouldn't have my 40in tire debead on me. Well at least the outer bead lol

I have Alpha Commands with a bead knurl that I've run down to 8psi in sand and snow. I'll try lower and see what happens. Thanks for the vid, great job.

without load on front axle the cv was at its max extension that plus turning the wheel made it so that it maxed out the joint, binding thus breaking

The most important thing to hold the bead is to get a narrower wheel relative to tire width. I've never lost a bead in a decade of wheeling. 12.5" wide tires, mounted to 8" and 8.5" wide wheels. I would not go wider. My standard pressure is 10psi, no matter if it's rocks or just cruising on FSR. Deep snow I drop it down to 5psi. I haven't tried lower, but I wouldn't be too surprised if I can go down to 2psi with no problems.

Did you have a mark on the wheel and Tire to see if the wheel was spinning in the tire at all? I love the idea, for a multipurpose rig especially

Recently aired down to 6psi for some snow wheeling on the rubicon with the beadgrip 701’s. Went well all weekend! Apart from still getting stuck haha.

My coworker has these on his truck, told me they’re almost impossible to dismount. I went to work on them, took me a good 20 minutes just to get the back bead to pop off the wheel. These wheels are serious, they grip the bead like no other!!

Definitely need a tire machine to dismount, lol. This is not something that can be done with a heavy truck and a highlift jack like a traditional truck wheel.

@@DirtLifestyle this was at a Discount Tire, I had to put metal air chucks between the bead seat and the tire bead to hold it back all the way around. Then I was able to get the tire bead to pop over the wheel hump that’s designed into the bead grips. I’m definitely going to order a set this winter!

TeraFlex Nomad wheels have the same thing. Not sure who had it first, but I found the Nomads first and that’s what I’m running my 285/75 KM3’s on. Usually down to 12 psi, but I ended up down to 6 psi a few times on my last Sand Hollow trip. Haven’t lost a bead yet! KM3 37’s go on tomorrow!

Looks like I got my Icon Rebound Pros about a year to early! 😆 those are the ones you referred to with the additional hardware but no ring. I do love them though. Air down to 5 PSI often and never have lost a bead.

@@JW-cn6op I had them side loaded while my buddy was trying to winch from my vehicle at an awkward angle. I thought they were gonna pop the rear wheel off as it was pulling my jeep sideways. Never lost the bead.
