Haven't used the Higher-end Tohos. Have a few toho treasures. Have noticed a very slight size difference. Although I have to say it's the miyuki that seem just a tad shorter and wider. (as strung and worked) I used to be pretty fair on Toho Vs. Miyuki, the differences between are usually usefull. Toho always seems to run wider and slightly larger, Miyuki a tiny bit more narrow, and round less brick shaped like Toho. (Surely depends on the stitches etc.) As far as cylinder beads I'm going with Miyuki if possible. Tons of colors-sizes. The reason I just had to respond is because I have to share that with all the beads I've worked with, Chech seed, China seed etc... of course Japanese needs the least culling... Still I was amazed that the Miyuki Delica was soo uniform! I HAVE NEVER EVER HAD TO CULL ANY FORM OF JAPANESE SEED BEADS 15 TO 20 % (wouldn't buy them) it's about 5 to 7 percent personally. So 5 to 7 beads out of 100 don't make the cut. Minimal with Miyuki. Toho requires a bit more culling. Anyhow with the 7.5 gram miyuki size 11 delicas I've had maybe one or 2 beads while making a bezel that didn't look right but that's about it. So maybe 1 or 2 percent. If that. Last thing, I now like to make the bezels Not with the Traditional peyote stitch, but with I believe is called the Brick stitch. It ends up looking and working almost the same but since you don't connect to beads to same way it really helps with the beads laying correctly. I noticed that TC Beads here on U Tube has just the video for this technique. Hopefully I haven't offended anyone. I love all beads just can't stand culling! :) Thanks very much, Stacey

Jill, I have just built a good collection on Delicas on the premise that they were the supreme bead...However it's clear here that the Aikos are! Would you say they are closely enough shaped in size that I could begin to integrate and use Aikos with my Delicas?

I have been using 11/0 Miyuki Delicas in tubular peyote for setting a Rivoli and I had a lot of Delicas break! I am using 6lb. Fireline and a size 12 Tulip needle. I am getting frustrated with them since I have to keep restarting my projects. Would using Toho Aiko cylinder beads be a better choice? I am willing to spend extra money.

I was wondering if you'd had a chance to check out the Matubo beads that a lot of stores have started to sell. Apparently they're pressed, so they're more uniform than regular Czech seed beads, and they have a slightly wider hole. I'm tempted, but I'm trying to stick to a strict beading budget (so difficult).

hmm...it really isn't difficult to tell the difference between the two swatches;it is very obvious to see.

Could you do a video on toho hex beads, toho charlottes, and miyuki cut beads? And possibly compare them to czech charlottes.

I think culling 20% of Delicas is not accurate. I have been beading 15 years and don't remember culling more thatn 1 or 2 delicas total!

I apologize for this comment, but Jill, you seem to have a problem with your promises. In one pre-Christmas video, you promised to show one more design for the ornaments - I guess, it just was a time shortage (as we all have on those days). Now, here, you mentioned that you'd put some links in info box to show where to buy those beads, but did not put any. We all buy beads in some places, but I hoped with your experience in beading, to find the best (maybe even for the price range) ones. I'm a recent subscriber, so that's just what I noticed - again, please forgive me for sharing it, but in both cases I really hoped the promises to be fulfilled.
