@@BeAmazed you're kind of harsh on the Crystal Skulls. There were a number of them around. Some are hoaxes but few question and baffled the scientific community. This few crystal skulls were put into extreme scientific test. The result only produced a lot of enigma. For one, this crystal skulls that were tested does stated that it was sculpted by some unknown method and estimated to be around in the Mayan period.

The dinosaur mosaic shows the Greek word "krokadilopardelas," which literally means "spotted crocodile." Probably a reference to the Nile monitor, which is a largeish lizard with spots.

I once found an artifact that had gone missing in ancient times. I battled a giant spider.. well, a baby giant spider. Basically regular size, but you can just tell it would grow to be a giant. Escaped multiple traps, falling objects. And when I opened a mysterious trunk, there it was, my old branch saw. I really should clean my garage, haven't seen that thing in years.

Vikings raided Muslim-held Spain and the Mediterranean coast cities. During the bronze age, tin was mined in the British Isles and sold in the Middle East. There was a long time of contact between the Norse culture and the Arab culture. Vikings held Muslim slaves as well as others from different cultures. So, finding Arab trinkets is not a surprise.

@@Maxtyur Try reading Archaeology Magazine. Why do you think the Romans went to Britain? Tin. Vikings had contact with Romans. Actually, the Viking age was after the Romans left. So there was a lot of contact already. Norsemen had colonies around the Black Sea. Go find some copies and start reading.

Amber has had mystical beliefs around it for millennia. A seeming “stone”, though actually fossilized tree sap, it can be carved by hand and polished easily (I was a stone cutter for 30 years). It also has a unique and beautiful scent, which is released by heating or burning the amber. It was believed to offer protection or health benefits when carved into specific forms, or when the scent was inhaled.

@Merrsharr
@Merrsharr 13 күн бұрын
Judging from the recreation, it looks like they placed the earth in the center and depicted it as sphere. The latter bit is no surprise, as ancient Greek philosophers no only knew of the planet's spherical nature, but also calculated its size with a fairly accurate result.
@Princess_Feona
@Princess_Feona 11 күн бұрын
@Merrsharr Not fairly, but extremely accurate. Eratosthenes calculated the planets circumference to within 1% over 2000 years ago using a stick in the ground. That’s why I shrug off the ideas of aliens building the pyramids and the like. We didn’t need them. Humans can be smart.
@richardparker3273
@richardparker3273 12 күн бұрын
A couple of points I'd like to make, one is a fact and one is really more of a theory. The first point is that, it is possible that the Earth being a sphere may not have been common knowledge in Europe if education was sub-par, but the Earth has been known by humanity to be spherical since the BCs. An ancient mathmatician named Eratosthenes used geometry to calculate the size and shape of the Earth with a surprisingly high level of accuracy before the year 0. My second thought, my theory, is that the ancient viking coin found in Maine likely was left there by vikings. Because, why would a later European bring a viking coin to the Americas? While there were no viking artifacts found near the coin, were there any later European artifacts found around it either? Since we know that vikings were exploring areas within a few hundred miles of the location where the coin was found, it is fairly likely that vikings had explored that area, and possibly didn't stay for long. Perhaps they dropped the coin as they were passing through? Maybe there is a site not far from there where there are viking artifacts still waiting to be discovered

Because right next to the creature it writes in greek ΚΡΟΚΟΔΙΛΟΠΑΡΔΑΛΙς [krokodilopArdalis], wich is a combined world, from the greek words κροκόδειλος (crocodile), and λεοπάρδαλη ( leopard ). So if you know any mythological creature that is half crocodile and half leopard tell me, because i don't know.

I only made it halfway through this. 1) You seem to not be aware of how far coins, trade goods, and artifacts tended to travel in the pre-modern world. This includes in pre-Columbian North America. The Native American peoples had vast and complex trade networks than spanned tribes and regions. Once something as highly-tradeable as a Norse coin entered into such an inter-tribal trade network, 400 miles or so isn't that far. As for goods from the Muslim world, the Arabs were renowned for producing exceptional and prized trade goods. They also preferred script to images for decoration. Thus, items with Islamic Arabic texts are really common anywhere that had trade connections with the Arab world. Christians in France used fine silks with Quranic Arabic texts embroidered into them as coverings for sacred Catholic relics. Almost no one in Europe read Arabic or cared what it said. They just prized the valuable and beautiful textile/object. Norse people who were Christian or pagan were known to wear Arabic-inscribed silver coins or Roman-styled Byzantine ones as highly-prized status symbols as well as valuable currency. Wealthy non-Muslims were perfectly willing to wear fancy and exotic goods without caring terribly what the fancy-looking Arabic script actually said. Even today, people in the West use Japanese characters in a purely decorative way without knowing or caring what the words actually say, and the Japanese do the exact same in reverse. There is 0 reason to believe that someone was a Muslim simply because they wore fine Arabic trade goods. All it shows is that they were wealthy. 2) It was widely known by anyone with even a minimal education all throughout the Medieval period that the world was round. Very few people ever actually believed it had edges that one could fall off. Beyond the written evidence left by scholars which people may say were exceptions to the rule of broader society, think of this as well: the image of someone holding a globe with a cross on it or sitting/standing on a globe was a common artistic trope throughout the Medieval Period, and it explicitly represented political or religious dominion over the world. Whenever the world was represented as an object in art, it was almost always a sphere, and the general populace understood what was meant. The details of the world were often (though not always) depicted on a flat surface just as we do today, but the actual world itself was understood to be round. 3) The first item in the video (and arguably others) doesn't fit on a list with this title. What "shouldn't exist" are people interpreting it as a flippin' dinosaur. The depiction itself is quite to be expected, illustrated by someone who possibly never even saw the animals he was depicting, and is done in a non-naturalistic art style. That figure could easily represent a dozen possible animals, is not a terribly precise depiction of whatever it's supposed to be, and should be understood as being completely without a sense of scale as can be seen by looking at everything else in the scene. 4) The crystal sculls are hoaxes, not artifacts. They shouldn't be on the list.

The Viking gold piece was most likely found by a native, and traded for something later on. This would be much like the Roman coins that have been found in China. The Islamic stuff in the Viking lands were most likely acquired during a conquest. In much the same way modern tourist bring junk home from their trips, except the Viking method of acquisition was more likely to be bloody.

There are illustrations of the Earth as a globe dating back over a thousand years. Not a map, but being used to show how the horizon works (the concept of Earth being flat pretty much died out globally over a thousand years ago. Only people living in a near enough flat area with no way of seeing changes in the distance to the horizon would have the excuse to think that way. Checkmate flatties!) We know that Eratosthenes figured out that the Earth is round over 2,000 years ago, and just using the distance between two places in Egypt (he paid a guy to walk between the two places - hundreds of miles! - to accurately measure it. He was very close) and the angle of a shadow at noon in the more northern location, he got the circumference to within a few percent. What wasn't agreed on during Galileo's time was that the solar system is heliocentric, not geocentric. This last sentence is what should be in that particular item. Bear in mind that humans are no more intelligent now than they were thousands of years ago. We've just had longer to discover things. We're no smarter than our ancestors! So don't be surprised if something turns up earlier than expected. Chances are that the local nerd invented/created it but the method didn't spread beyond the local borders. That's why when it (whatever "it" is) was "invented" a few centuries later, it doesn't mean that it's the first time it really was. So we shouldn't be surprised if an older version turns up elsewhere.

Parts of Europe have old drawing of dragons that resemble dinosaurs. Those drawing go back to medieval Europe.

That is NOT the Ark of the Covenant; everyone knows it was unearthed at Tannis in Egypt by Dr. Henry Jones, stolen by the Nazis and now resides in a top-secret X-Files warehouse at Area 51! (mike drop)

3:55 the earth has been known to be round for more than 3000 years, the ancient Greeks calculated the size of the earth with insane accuracy. The reason Columbus thought he could reach Asia was because he didn't believe the Greeks and thought the earth was much smaller

13:00 strangely enough, it was Henry's wife, Anne Boleyn who had an affair with my great grandfather ThomasWyatt in 1554, he lost his head for it but, she did indeed see that helmet and was going to give it to my ancestor.
