Yeah, but not to factory farm them by their millions in cramped dark warehouses surrounded by their own shit. Or accelerate their growth to suck an extent that they are pinned to the ground by the weight of their own bodies as their bones can't grow fast enough to keep up.

It's human nature for individuals to desire to increase their quality of life to increase chances of survival to pass on genes to the next generation. Battery farming is just one system that increases our quality of life ensuring survival and so is natural.

I am a vegetarian and can tell you that eating meat is completely unnecessary to your quality of life, in Fact since going veggie I now live a much healthier life than before. Yes greed can be considered part of human nature but it is a part that we should be able to rise above.

For survival yeah, that's why we eat meat because to have lived purely off agriculture throughout history would not have been very effective at allowing us to survive. I haven't ate meat in I think 9 years now but if you put me back in the stone ages I'd happily put a spear in one of those fuckers myself and eat them. However in modern times, first world countries really don't need to eat meat or anything like that, meanwhile factory farming is a pretty fucked up, really bad for the planet and very unhealthy at current levels of consumption. We eat meat and consume dairy, eggs etc. for two reasons, one is pleasure and greed which I do understand, same reason I have an iPhone even though I know how it's made, I like it and am not prepared to give it. And the second reason is because it's easier because it's what we're used to in society. 90%+ of food options contain meat and you rarely see any genuine vegan options. Can't blame someone for not wanting to restrict themselves like that.

(In response to your response to ddandy) It increases quality of life yeah I guess, because it tastes good but it's not increasing your chances of survival, quite the opposite. Ideally you should eat meat once or twice a week but we don't, we consume meat every day and that is really unhealthy, that's why vegetarians and vegans are seen as healthier, ideally they shouldn't be but compared to the average meat consumption it really is far far healthier. Meanwhile animal farming accounts for 15% of all global greenhouse emissions and is far easier to have food poisoned from under-cooked food. I've never had food poisoning in my life, yet many people I know have when they order takeaways.
