Kai isn't like that at all. It's a pride in his strength. He knows he's vain, but that pride is the belief that'll he'll reach his ambitions. It's not even arrogance Vegeta is proud of who he is. A Prince not a king, a Saiyan, a warrior who keeps on fighting and won't be pushed down or around by anyone.

There a bit of desperation to it he’s given up his mind and his buddy but he will never let go of his pride and that’s what allows him to over come the mind control. Kai says the same thing just far more words that don’t need to be there z kept it short and sweet .

I was thinking the same. Both are completely different explanations and implications. The dub implicates that any saiyan could resist this and his drive as a Saiyan pushes him to fight kakarot. Kai’s dialogue and the manga shows that vegeta’s pride as a prince is what’s pushing him. His humiliation at the hands of goku (who didn’t even beat him) and his friends has haunted him and even more so goku taking the victory of taking out frieza (actually it was his future son) but goku avenging the saiyan race which vegeta had staked his entire life to doing and becoming a super saiyan. And don’t even get me started on the Cell/android arc. Vegeta has been itching to prove his worth.

I agree to an extent words can carry a lot of emotions even if not screamed from the top of your lungs that speech itself is what takes it over for me there’s a hint of desperation to what Vegeta is saying in the Z dub he gave up everything for this one opportunity his family the peace his body and mind but he didn’t give up his pride just to have this chance at victory.

You can also feel the emotional tension, just before the scene, you can hear babidi’s voice sort of fade in and out in vegeta’s head saying “KILL HIM!!”, and the way that vegeta explains why he let babidi control him is better than Kai’s version of the scene, it has more weight, more structure, and more emotion. Kai gets way too gassed up throughout the community because of it being more accurate to the manga and different Va’s or the same Va’s with just different voice direction and older than the previous dub

@Marlon Brando’s Grandson to be fair to Vegeta, the majin boost wasn't actually all that much for him. Goku even brings up that the boost was big for humans and stuff but literally meant nothing to them, which is why he was asking Vegeta about it. Vegeta wanted it because it made him feel like his Saiyan saga self (evil and without the feelings if love for a family).
