I'm a Apache. Got to dance with our former enemies. They welcomed me. Fed me. And wanted me to return. Honored to have crossed that bridge. The Ute are an honorable people. I shall see you again!

@@joaquinmccurty4762 wait, Utes were enemies to Mescalaros and Chiricahuas? But Utes live so far north from Apaches
@joaquinmccurty47623 жыл бұрын
@@megachar2163 you're thinking rez think as we call it. Gotta take the mind past the reservation boundary throughout history. The Apache were nomadic, we raided all along what is now known as Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, and even Mexico. The term "Apache" is a Zuni word meaning "Enemy*. Which was basically to everyone. When white eyes showed up it shifted our..."way of life" to survival mode. we were bandits back in the day. But we did believe in honor and admired courage. Utes along with the comanche were our most fiercest of foes.
@megachar21633 жыл бұрын
@@joaquinmccurty4762 yes sir I can understand that, I’m a Navajo myself Our enemies were Utes and Comanches too, but I never thought southern Apaches actually fought with Utes, which is pretty cool.

the story of the bear dance a dance of sea saw fashion to explain a inner speaking of the creators of the beardance...since I think it came from the southern ute indian tribe...other apache crown dancers depict dancing in a sea saw fashion to explain the rocky mountain n the story of the jack frost southern ute 6900 elevation...so this is prob the inner talking of the utes...to get out of the indian way as a southern ute n depart with your loved ones...to high in evelation here on the southern ute reservation..

what kinda instrument are the UTE using for Bear Dance.? What's the name of it? and what kinda material is it..? Sounds Beautiful and strong makes me wanna dance. I am Pascua Yaqui and we use a similar instrument for Ceremony. it's a perfected piece of wood w/ ridges called manzinita.

Danny Ribera what are they made of?
@mcuch42534 жыл бұрын
They are axe handles maple wood- the growler it’s called craved grooves with a bone rubbed over. The drum is tin box.... this sound represents the thunder of spring which wakes the bears and earth to life.

My Elder taught me that bear dance is sacred.... taught me that bears were healing..... things like this can be used in a good way or bad way... He has seen people use things like this and get hurt from it because they didn't do it the right way so whether or not they're doing it the right way here according to their tradition is between them and their creator and it's not anybody's position to judge but if they didn't do it in a good way or the right way it will hurt them eventually... my Elder has seen people do bear dance and wind up dead not doing it the right way so it is something serious..... I don't know why it has to be out here on the internet but it is and I personally believe it should be something protected and not seen by anyone but My Relations because no other people have a business in it because they had roots in the business of destroying It For the Love of power and greed that they brought to this land... I believe that all we are to them is mascots or objects to market.... we are still not considered human beings to them..... there's only 1440 of my people left of the Delaware tribe of Western Oklahoma and to be honest what I do know that I have taken great pains and traveled much and search much to learn to make it mine I wouldn't just share out here because it doesn't belong to anyone but my people and My Relations... It's what I have left as a human being what little there is remaining..... if I have children they will have it..... I don't understand why such things are shared on the internet because all it is viewed as is entertainment or something to get attention and that's not why we do this stuff..... have we forgotten that we are supposed to live in a good way before the Creator and that these are the ways the Creator gave us and no other people? I don't say these things to criticize but I do say what I say so that people might think..... have we forgotten the words of our Prophets like Neolin or Tunskwatawa or Handsome Lake or many others like Wovoka???? We were warned by many who heard from creator that we were not to speak to the white man or any other race and not let them know we were doing what we were doing for a reason because it is between us and Creator and that is my belief and it is my belief because my teacher learned from the grandson of Wovoka.....
