Just try not to be too aggressive or too quiet around it, otherwise it’s animals instincts are going to detect you as their next meal (especially if food has been scarce that time of the year).

This is a dumb activity, plus the parents invested into this by equipping themselves to do so. Strap your infant to your chest. At least you have visuals, can access the child singlehandedly, and if falling forward, can catch yourself from landing on the child, rather than falling back and potentially killing your baby boy.

Lol. Black bears live all over. This isnt some back woods area 500mls into the mountains. They are on a trail. I've had black bears in camp --IN LARGE crowded campgrounds. Ive had them outside of the house ---IN the city. 🙄 They took their kids on a hike. Very very reasonable thing to do. All these comments about "dumb" and "guns" just shows how many ppl don't have a clue what normal in areas like the Rockies or upper mid West involves.
