Yes, I too wondered why they did not sort themselves into functional groups, with those with the least energy assigned as fire keepers, water boilers and camp tidyers; others as foragers for roots, shellfish and such; and others as fishermen and fisherwomen; and others as hunters of snakes, goannas and such. Some of them worked in organisations like hospitals which function on departments and team duties, and yet they still did not organise themselves into functional groups. It seemed that leadership in that regard was lacking. They only used the hanging fishing net a couple of times and they seemed to not know how to use it. The rest of the time it was often seen screwed up on the ground in the background. I used to fish with one of those nets when camping in FNQ and on NQ islands, which is the same sort of climate and environment as these people are in. We set the net up at roughly right angle to the shore, vary the locations depending on geography, tides, currents, and types of fish desired, and pull the net in at least three times daily at dawn, noon, and late afternoon, if not more often, depending. It always had fish in it. Sometimes two of us would walk with the net between us. If they used their net instead of leaving it screwed up on the ground then I am pretty sure they would have plenty of fish to eat. And pooping near camp and not burying it deeply is a big no-no. It risks disease. It is good to see the personal growth lessons that they got from the experience. I think that is the best part.

Season 2 boys was eating lots of fish everyday if I remember. With Vic fishing and their net.

It's fake as fuck. None here was surviving, just lying around, boiling water and waiting to get picked up. Plus the odd large fishing net and pig given by the production crew.

I'd take you up on that challenge. North American Indian...( part anyway, Cherokee Indian) I grew up in the country and have hunted, fished, camped, and foraged for food. I can make my own fire, spear, even bow and arrow and I'm a carpenter so I know a little about building stuff. Anyway it would be fun.....

Indo-Europeans came to Scandinavia before Sami. Calling them "indigenous" to distinguish them from Indo-Europeans is ridiculous.

I believe it was an emergency GPS tracker that they can activate or can be activated in the event that they get lost and hurt. It was used in the last season I believe as a couple of the guys got lost and it got dark. They sent an SOS and a couple of the team members were able to find them using the GPS co-ordinates.

seems ben and especially mercedes were absolutely useless, more burdens than anything. their jobs should have been to take care of the camp, tending the fire, boiling water, building a better structure if they could, collecting wood, keeping wood dry, etc., while others hunted, foraged, scavenged, got water, and fished when not helping with the camp environment, too.

Asians would win every time…but I’d love to find out.
