After weeks of rain and clouds, we head to Denali National Park in hopes of a glimpse of Denali in all her glory. Even though the forecast doesn't look promising, our hopes are high for this trip to the heart of Alaska.

Kevin Congratulations ! on finding the piece of Gold . Did any one else in the group find any Gold ? How long are ya's staying in Alaska for ? If you go to Juneau go on a whale watch in a jet powered boat . The boat doesn't have any propellers that will hurt the sea life then in the afternoon tly on a helicopter & get out and walk around on a glacier . I did get to do it because the bad morning fog never lifter so the excursion was canceled I was quite disappointed to say the least . I had heard that it's something that you will never forget for the rest of your life . In Ketchican I flew on a sea plane through the Misty Fjords from the harbor dock . During the flight the pilot landed the sea plane in a mountain top lake & he got out & stood on one of the pontoons & ate his lunch . I got out also & took a lot of pictures . Taking off from the I was stting up front in the right seat & the plane got real close to the end of the lake & the plane finally lifted high enough to take off & clear the tree tops . I caught it all on my SONY 8MM camcorder that I had with me at the time . It bit the dust decades ago hitting the lense in my hotel room floor in Barcelona before going down to breakfast. It was the day the group was to transfer to the cruise ship to take a 10 day Trans Atlantic cruise to Miami . I was quite upset by it to say the least . Luckily I had a lot of film with me . I never got it repaired because I was told that it might not ever work or work correctly again so I didn't want to waste my money .

I have to say, the idea of scheduled tours on buses isn't a bad idea with the issues we're seeing these days. Even a permit for National Forest use isn't a bad idea where you have to watch a training video on taking care of the forest before entering. Until then, we are doing our best to lead by example and clean up behind the rest.

Kevin, Sarah, and Caroline you are a very lucky family. I have followed you on this journey from episode 1 and it is inspirational to see you grow as a family and to see through your eyes the wonders of our North American continent. This episode was particularly poignant watching Caroline earn her Junior Ranger badge, watching Kevin find gold, and listening to the commentary during the show of the Aurora Borealis. The excitement in Kevin’s voice walking back to camp was great and clearly genuine. Keep up the great work. I can’t wait to see what is next.

I have been watching you and your wonderful family for a very long time. I am so envious of you traveling around the world while I struggle trying to figure out how I am going to retire. I had tears in my eyes watching Caroline get her Ranger badge. “I” was so proud of her (reminds me of my granddaughter but Caroline is older) so I can only imagine how you two parents felt. Keep on keeping on, I love your travels and adventures. I get to work every morning at 4:00 am and look to see if you have a new video yet. I have two monitors so watch and listen to your videos while I work. 👍

I can't than you enough for your series of videos. I've travelled up north twice from the Ohio valley in my TJ Wrangler 2001 and 2002. The first time I ran out if time when I reached Whitehorse. The second I made it to Fairbanks, Denali, Seward, and Valdez. As you see by the city names I didn't much leave the road network. I've always wanted to return with more time to explore. Your videos have allowed me to rekindle my love for the north country and just setting off to see what I could see. Hopefully travel restrictions will be lifted so I can head north late this summer. If not, I can just enjoy more of these videos. Thanks again.

Just lying around the house, all day as the pollen has done its thing to me. Then, I thought I heard Kevin say "Come on...get in the bus! " I open my computer and there was video from y'all. Sure glad I went along for the ride. Oh, and what a ride it was! Tell Caroline that she is the BEST Junior Ranger I ever saw.....also the only one I ever saw. I've had days that end with a cherry on top. You had a day that ended with GOLD on top. Oh, those colors. This has so touched my heart. Stay safe. To travel is to live!

Seeing Denali park through your camera lens on that perfect of most perfect days was the most spectacular natural scenery I've ever laid eyes upon! Spectacular auroras! So glad you guys were blessed by such a precious visit after such an arduous journey, and we now have one fine new Junior Ranger! Don't know if you'll be able to EVER top this one folks lol. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. 7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. ---Psalm 19

When I worked in high latitudes, I was informed that Aurora Borealis was present 300 days per year. Unfortunately, total daylight in summer prevented observation but in winter the skies were very active. Some days offered 10 hours of bright, full-sky, multi-colored display. We did our work under the lights. I would sometimes drive a truck away from camp for several miles to escape the artificial light and lie on my back, by myself, for an hour or until I got too cold. There were no trees there, it was horizon to horizon lights. After a time, my mind would be captured by the motion and my connection to Earth would diminish. I would trance out for a while on the rushing waves of light. I hope you can do this one day, it's a surreal feeling, not available to most of us, ever. The north is at its most impressive in January. With regard to the best day so far, you haven't tried British Columbia yet.

I used to do the same thing when I was a kid. I live in North Pole, Alaska. And when the lights would come out at night in the dead of winter, I would put all of my winter gear on, and climb up on top of my dad's shop (has a flat roof) and lay down on my back and stare up into the sky. The snow helped keep me warm from any wind, and I would lay there for hours. I would love to do it again, this time try and capture it on video to share with the world 👍

great video work guys. I can tell you love each other, it shows in every video, and I love that message most of all. Society forces norms on us, and breaking those norms, doing what feels best, that is all too rare these days. Keep up with the great videos, hope to meet you on the trails

The first time I saw Denali was as I was arriving in Talkeetna. I told my friend the top of that cloud looks like a mountain. He laughed and said it looks exactly like the top of Denali. He worked for a well know air transport company that deals with climbers and adventurers of all types. He took me up to the main climbers camp a couple of times to drop off food, gear, and climbers. Out of respect for the folks who worked hard and payed a ton to be there, I never took any photos. No regrets.

Congratulations to Caroline for becoming a junior ranger. I hope you got still pictures of those views. I’d print them and hang them in my house. Well, your next house. Haha!

Now you guys understand why I tell people to really appreciate Alaska, you need to spend some time there. Because just one perfect day, like you had, will make the entire time worth it. I used to work in Denali Park seasonally and ended up moving there after college for several years. Now you need to get back up that way in February sometime and see what Alaska is really like.
