I used to watch this show and remember it being the greatest thing ever and i’ve come back to this

you know, seeing how primal acts in this episode is a good metaphor for when people take beloved characters and 'modernize' them. I'm using the word in parentheses because I am not talking about giving a character an update. I'm talking more about when those who have no idea of what these characters stand for, project their own perception of what 'modern' means, and turn characters into ultra-violent-rage-killers.

It's got 3 scenes that are directly ripped off 1987's Robocop....i was blown away when i spotted this....true Easter eggs Scene 01) breaking open the hatch....same way robocop did the drug bust Scene 02) Waspinator being pulled from behind the wall by Optimus..... The town hall scene where Robocop pulled the mayor from behind the wall And 3rd..... MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE.... Scene 03) at the end when Dinobot walks away from Optimus resting, he slowly turns around and in a very uncharacteristic manner gives a small smile......that is exactly frame for frame the last scene where robo turns slowly and tells the old man his name with a smile, "Murphy".

A good episode and one that, I've gotta say, has numerous ironies in it. Said ironies are as follows: Despite Scorponok being, as Dinobot said "Notoriously incompetent", he actually managed to, outside of botching the virus that had the opposite effect of what he meant it to have, do everything else right. You know, create the antivirus the way it was supposed to be, manage to latch his cyberbee onto Optimus right after he put Dinobot out of action and cause there to still be problems aplenty for Optimus and the other Maximals alike, even though he also put himself and the other Predacons in danger. And proving capable of creating any sorts of things at all, cyberbee(with future ones doing a tiny bit better than the original), antivirus or otherwise, given his being not too bright and overall a less than adept scientist(said ineptness proven by both the botched cyberbee and some other things). Dinobot making a very stupid decision despite how he's usually very smart in deciding to let the Predacons know that Optimus had become an aggressive killing machine instead of the coward he was supposed to be turned into, which tipped them off, like Cheetor mentioned. The aforementioned Cheetor being portrayed as a lot more competent and smart than the writers(wrongly)like to show him as in some episodes, and being right about the "less brains and more guts" thing after all, even though Dinobot's idea seemed to be the better one, but instead led to him admitting that only Optimus can truly think like Optimus. Tarantulas, who is usually very competent, both in battle and as a scientist, screwing up badly against Optimus, who defeated him in a way that would bring Jason Voorhees and/or Michael Myers to mind. Megatron, who is almost always clever and making of smart decisions, leadership or otherwise, deciding to approach Optimus with the antivirus in hand to try and goad him into surrendering instead of just going into the same room and staying a good distance away from him with that antivirus in hand, which would have forced Optimus to surrender, something that proved foolish on Megatron's part, given what Optimus did to him when he got the chance. Anyway, quite the set of ironies, wouldn't you say?
