I’ve been hating on the no socks/men’s ankles trend my whole life and I’m so glad to know I’m not alone! There’s a time and a place for no socks. A close-toed shoe is not that place.

I've worn slip-on type shoes without socks since I was a kid, first wearing Keds Slip-on's in the '60's then later Vans and Sperry Top Siders. When Sperry cheaped out, I switched to Rancourt & Co. To each their own I suppose. You forgot a great summer fabric with seersucker. Shirts, shorts, and pants are all great in the summer.

I wear the MUJI water repellant sneakers. They run $29.99. I have Vans, Chuck Taylors, Adidas and TUK's and they are the shoe I wear the most. I've worn them all over Portland Oregon walking the streets and also to music shows. Great shoes. Our local store stocks some that looks like well faded black denim. Very cool looking.

Well now I'm butt-hurt Carl. I am old, admittedly. I still have loafers that I wear with dress slacks SOMETIMES. You can't wear work boots everywhere without looking like an idiot. I also drive 2 BMWs (35 years old and 20 years old), but I never yell at waitresses. I spent too many years working in restaurants before becoming a dentist. For casual wear, I like my RW chukkas and my Stetson Milan Stratoliner fedora. Interesting to see Filson mentioned. Last year everyone was threatening to boycott them because of their outrageous prices. Boycotts never last (BenchMade, Carhartt). Now that I'm retired I'm spending most days in a generic tee shirt and Roadhouse overalls. Feels like being naked, only legal! I'm too old for "style". Just stopped in to say hi and to smash that "LIKE" button. Stay well Carl!!

Another lightweight fabric is Hemp. Very comfortable, but it wrinkles like crazy.

Are there any companies that make sneakers that look sun-faded? I think it's a cool look. This girl at my job has some black Vans slip ons that have become more brown because of being sun-faded. It's very subtle though. Never seen a company sell something like that.

I haven’t been able to find much for casual shoes. I have some chukkas but even more casual than that I don’t like sneakers or loafers. Have had a pair of Altima “maritime assault boots” for years but they’re not boots, just less ugly sneakers. Any other recommendations welcome.

For converse, I would recommend getting the chuck 70s. They're more expensive, but are better quality and comfort.

Loafers do make sense though in summer months as they provide more air flow/exposure to keep feet a little cooler. Walking around in a leather boot in 100 degree heat doesn’t make too much sense to me.

LOL I know I mentioned No show socks in the other video but just to be clear lol I wear pants and not shorts. so no you won't see that extra skin in there lol since is cover, plus with linen pants it makes that extra breathability much better (from my personal experience) but as far as Loafer Shoes, yes. I hate them. they suck! well except for one that has a wider toe box, that fine I suppose but not the most comfortable one. Oh well I had them for more than 20yrs. also the shoes won't smell as you mentioned with the no shoe socks equal to bad smell. unless their using it for a hard work and exercise than you're definitely wearing it wrong. should have stick to sport shoes.
