It’s nice to see schools I attended when I was living in the Philippines. I graduated from high school at Mapua and attended UST for my university freshman year 1968-69; halfway through my second semester I moved to the U.S. I also attended the Beatles concert in Manila, thanks for posting the date which I have completely forgotten.

People seem to have more DIGNITY AND DECENCY way back then. The way they carry themselves. It does not matter which strata of society one is in. It's not about how much money ones makes. It is about common decency and common sense. Nowadays, there seem to have no shame. Poverty seems to be the norm now... Waiting for dole outs and perpetual "poor me" mentality is rampant and being encouraged, it seems, than having or getting a decent paying job and just be proud of one's independence and ability to sustain a life and grow a family without having to DEPEND on the government or relatives... It's as if hardwork is something to be shun and "easy money" is the way to go for most... People would rather be LEECHES and BUM than to lift a finger to pull themselves out of poverty. Not sure why when there's millions of families more than ever, ( in the phils) who have relatives who work abroad, ( ofw ) when one would think this might alleviate or even get rid of the so called "poorest of the poor" in our society. But surprisingly, it has not only doubled but at least tripled in numbers! Just look at the slum areas! Instead of progress, what is this??? well, you be the judge. Which begs the question... it's really not a matter of how much money is being injected in our economy... but the overall MENTALITY of how filipinos look at money and how it is spent... Do we even know how to invest wisely? Or is it still "One Day Millionare" mentality that is being exercised? And what about the "Talangka culture?" One member of the household carries the burden of the WHOLE CLAN??? Instead of helping and lifting up each other working TOGETHER for the sake of the ECONOMIC WEALTH OF THE WHOLE CLAN.... I think that's what the difference between the chinese and the pinoys... Their work ethics and Their family values are very different from one another.

This vlog was made more nostalgic because of the background music by The Associations. One of the most popular love songs by said group including 'No Fair At All" and "Windy". Clean simple fun was the mood of the 60s' young ones. Do you remember Esso's tagline "put a tiger in your tank" and Feati's "Look up young man, look up". Ang laki ng billboard na ito at the foot of Sta. Cruz bridge that every time we passed there, i always looked up to see what should be seen. Wala naman akong nakita.
