"there is a Sabu in here I guess" man... Sabu was awesome. Tajiri was an ECW legend who had some amazing matches with many wrestling legends.

As one of the three ECW fans watching this series, I hate that this boring game was ever anyones introduction to ECW. Though, a cheaply made game held together by staples and empty promises might be fitting of ECW in its last couple years.

These guys were all super stars. This game may be jank, but also is 100% accurate to how ECW shows actually were.

I'm an independent wrestling referee. Spent some time with Tracy Smothers before he died a couple years ago. Terrible game but it's cool seeing some of these people!

Tons of these wrestlers are still around, some like Taz are still big, but I digress

ECW was underground but still relatively popular, it was definitely the third biggest wrestling organization in North America. It was also HUGELY influential even on the bigger two. They basically introduced several wrestling styles to the maintstream in America, not just hardcore stuff but also Japanese strong style, lucha libre, technical wrestling etc. Both WWF (now WWE) and WCW were constantly poaching their talent - WCW's cruiserweight division in particular was almost entirely former ECW guys - and eventually, WWE bought it as well as WCW and then continued their own watered down version of ECW for a while. "Oh my god!" was Joey Styles's big catchphrase. He was probably the best English announcer at the time, really knew his stuff.

I knew a couple of the smaller named ECW guys because they lived nearby and were friends with people I knew. Went to a few shows and they were pretty nuts. I had a lot of firsts as a young teenager in those small arenas :D

I was 14 when I played this. created a custom character called “The Flying Booger”. He was completely green and weighed 500 lbs. He only did nut shots. Nothing else.

I remember as a kid thinking that wrestling was real, but it was a sport. That being said, I also thought ECW was where the psychos went who actually wanted to kill each other and nothing about it was fake lol.

I'm 1 of 3! 😅 I recognized every actual wrestler. I wish this game was better, but I knew it would be trash being basically the same as the 2 WWF games by Acclaim.

Wrestling fan here. ECW was nuts back then. I remember renting this way back when and realizing within minutes of turning it on that this was an Attitude/Warzone clone (and i HATED those games). I was so mad I literally biked back to Blockbuster to see if they could exhange it for a different game lol.

ECW was an obsession as a teenager. We would stay up til 2am to catch clips on local over-the-air TV. Sabu, Rob Van Damn, Taz. Legends.

I have a signed picture from NOVA from around 1999 when I went to an ECW show back in Jr. High. It was actually a pretty cool show. In the main event the 2 guys fighting came out right into our section and even used the folding chairs we were sitting in to beat the living hell out of each other. I wish I could remember who the wrestlers were, but that memory is long gone, lol

I went to an ECW show in the early 2k's and Taz jumped off 4 levels of scaffolding and destroyed his back. Ambulance drove into the arena. EPIC!! EC DUB, EC DUB!!!

Those old wrestling games were always hit or miss... They were always better with friends tho

I used to go to ECW events all the time and people would try to bring weapons(broom handles, baseball bats, chains, etc)in and security would confiscate them all. Then, without fail, at some point during the event one of the wrestlers would bring out a shopping cart full of all the confiscated items and they would get used in the ring lol

That marble race had so many S-tier games in front during the second lap, and then...

I'm so invested in these marble races but also disheartened every time a good game loses out to another sports game lol

Dude ECW was legendary. Sabu, Raven, RVD and Tommy Dreamer etc. had some of the most amazing matches I’ve ever seen.

As a wrestling and ThaBeast fan, his general lack of ECW knowledge makes this fun to watch (I'm not hating!). I'm a little sad Anarchy Rulz didn't get ported to N64 for him to play, lol.

ECW was so fun to watch! RVD and Sabu had some great matches. So many legendary wrestlers started in ECW, was a great time to be a wrestling fan! I often go back and watch the old ECW PPVs!

I just watched a 3 hour video on the rise and fall of ECW and noticed they had a N64 game with Acclaim. I dont remember this as a kid I used to buy all the wrestling games for this console. It's eerie you posted this video today although I know it's a coincidence. I just watched the video..... This game is so bad I would've been so mad if paid 60-80 bucks for it.

Yeah this was during the time when AKI moved from making WCW games and jumped over to WWF...Activision was dropped for doing no favors with WWF WarZone and Attitude, so ECW picked them up in hopes to get more of the spotlight on them (the promotion was popular, but they were number 3 during the late 90's/early 00"s), and Activision literally just used the same engine they used for Attitude and slapped an ECW coat of paint on it. This game somehow got a sequel that released on PS1 and Dreamcast (Anarchy Rulz), which was again more of the same with more content.

He's playing every awful N64 sports game, and he means all of them, the best part is: the marble race at the end.

lol its funny cause a good number of the wrestlers later in the game are considered to be very significant and influential in the wrestling world

I’m pretty sure Buffone is one of the main producers of ECW back when it was around.

fyi: the handicap matches are mostly done via winning by most damage. you just need to be quick to land moves on your opponents by cycling through them (change target immediately when you hit your move). it gets easy once the crowd chants on you because you do double damage. so yes, it is possible to beat it even with your opponents in red and your wrestler in green. it just takes some time to practice it. 😉
