Beating Retreat 2013: Corps of Drums "Hogan's Heroes"

Күн бұрынThe Household Division's Annual Ceremony of Beating Retreat -- A Military Music Spectacular -- on Horse Guards Parade in 2013 was performed in the presence of Her Majesty, The Queen.
The display by the massed Corps of Drums comprising 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, 1st Battalion Irish Guards, and 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, culminated in a rendition of the theme tune to the highly popular television series, "Hogan's Heroes", written by Jerry Fielding.

Great rendition. If you didn't know it was a TV theme song, you wouldn't know it was a TV theme song. As for the show itself, it went off the air 50 years ago, and it's still funny....definitely one of the sitcoms from that era that has aged very well, and Sgt. Schultz is one of the best TV sidekicks ever invented.

I knew but didn’t know as a kid when I first got hooked on this show. I also played drums. Had I known this fact, I would been blown away! Thanks for passing it along!

WRONG. According to records at the Library of Congress: Carol Kaye, electric bass; Jack Sperling, Dick Berk, drums. (Soundtrack Personnel). The Bob Crane rumor is unfounded and probably a dumb assumption from his recording of the theme from an album of his.

It is a very great Marching band flute. It was my favorite prisoner-of-war television series of all time.

I didn't see closely thier regimental badges but I am slightly biased towards the WG and all the have done because my late Great Grandfather was one member of this great unit during the 14-18 war. (WW1 for my fellow bloody yanks we joined in much later)❤

That was wonderful! Must have been recommended to me because I just watched the cast of HH SINGING the theme song. I didn’t even know there were words to it - but Lebeau, Newkirk, Kinchloe & Carter sang it on an album full of “ Famous War Songs!” - It’s here on You Tube!

Cant forget about the movie The Great Escape 1963 same music then Hogans Heros came out in 1965 as a spin off.

@@IcemanE52 the show wasnt banned in germany. Initially it wasnt broadcast there because of the language barrier. Once they got german dubs it was very popular over there. They gave Werner and John an accent/dialect that really sold the comedy.

Just realized what a great theme song it was. GREAT rendition, perhaps the best. Marches sound best when played by marching band outdoors (originally they marching to battle songs, eh?)
