My theory: Since fairies haven't had wings for centuries now, there's no way to differentiate between a fairy and a witch. They made a big deal about the blood witches because they were known as dangerous and had started a war before but they aren't the only type of witches to exist and so, being from Aster Dell (if it isn't revealed she's from somewhere else), both Beatrix and her sisters are actually witches - Beatrix grew up thinking she was a fairy but her sisters, who are yet to be introduced, know they're witches.

She's not most likely based on Stormy. Beatrix was supposed to be, as her name even implies, a combination of all three Trix - Icy's ruthlessness and sharp wit, Darcy's personality and Stormy's powers. But, if they hadn't already planned this, it seems that the writers and producers listened to the fans and are going to make Icy and Darcy separate characters. Andreas even nicknamed Beatrix "little storm" and it was revealed at the end that her sisters are named Isabella (works with Icy as a nickname) and D'Arcy.

Yeah, Farah mentioned this in season 1 when she was explaining what other uses they could have for their powers and so said that air fairies can also make use of the soundwaves in the air. I was a bit bummed because that should have been Musa's power.

Yes and no. She's got some depth to her character and goes beyond being just a villain. I say give the show a try even if you've never seen Winx Club (or maybe especially if you've never seen it). It's got a nice plot to it and can easily be watched in 1-2 days if you go on a binge.
