I am the 2nd owner of a 1966 Riviera GS bought on the night of Desert Storm, fully loaded with every option, including Dual factory Carter Carbs, bucket seats with console Horseshoe shifter, Uniroyal Red line tires, color Buick Fawn with black interior, never had the A/C re- charged blows ice cold you'll need a sweater on a 95 degree day!! Totally restored with 88K miles i got it had 69K miles. I am also the first owner of a 1987 Grand National with 28K miles, some engine bolt on's not afraid to run with the Mustangs or Dodges of today, Love showing my tail lights on either car at stop lights ,just a guy who love Hot Buicks, kids today don't know GM built some beautiful cars and some that would blow your doors off at the same time!!

Yeah, I would have liked to have seen something from House of Kolor, but the car is so fundamentally gorgeous, it doesnt' need it. Probably going for more understated.

Anyone who would paint the bumpers on a Riv is not an American. Must be a foreigner.

Painted bumpers has been an American thing since at least the 80s. There are more ways than one for a car to look good.

@@weirdshibainu I see many cars that have been modified in poor taste, but I don't think this is one of them. The mods are definitely in keeping with the spirit of the original car, along with some modernization. Every car design is a compromise of many things. The original designers made a choice of practicality in terms of headroom and ground clearance vs. style. I think if they had turned the dial a little more toward style, and seen into the future a bit (monochrome, lower) it would have looked much like what has been done here.

The '66 Rivi was my first car in 1973 at age 16. I am here to tell you that chop top looks like shit. You guys fucked up a nice car. What ever.

@@gearheadbob1236 No worries! Some cars look ok chopped. The Riviera looks disproportionate, the Buick designers got it right. Below is a link to a video of a photo taken at my parents home in Northridge, Ca. shortly after I bought the car. In 1965, my dad bought a brand new 1965 Impala. In '73, he wanted to hand it down to me. I turned it down, went to the bank withdrew $800 and bought the Riviera. The car was bullet proof. The 465 Wildcat had all the power anyone would want. 1966 Buick Riviera: studio.kzfaq.infoRjsEP-GyNrE/edit 1973 Monte Carlo Landau, fully loaded, 454 engine. '63's thru '65's needed a 2" chop. Loved my late '63 other than the tall roof line. Yours looks good.
It's a custom there's no right or wrong just like or not. I guess he likes that steering wheel and he likes the 67 hood. I'm not sharp enough to know the difference.
