This fort was the same fort which during the time of the mughals imprisoned many people and the fort was said to be so bad that when you went in you dint come out, they did all their funeral stuff in their no one could come out. The 6th Guru , Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji Maharaj was imprisoned here and it says that the fort was occupied with many other rajas who werent liked by the mughal rulers. In the night two lions visited the ruler and sat on his chest , these were the avtars of very powerful of the Gurus devotees they said let the Guru go or we wont let you be in peace. So the ruler said to the Guru i will let you go. The Guru said no , if I will go then so will the other rulers come too. The ruler said only those can go who can hold your coat tails like touch the coat. So the Guru made a coat with 52 tails , little kapre that the kings could hold on to it. The Guru then walked out with all these kings with him. Thereforel he is known as the Bandi Chor of the kings hence the day Bandi Chor Divas is celebrated. The fort for Sikhs is very important therefore for the sikhs.
