Join us for a relaxing drive through the beautiful foothill communities of La Cañada Flintridge and Montrose, California! These suburbs of Los Angeles have a particular character reflecting their location close to the San Gabriel and Verdugo Mountains, with many wooded areas and upscale, luxury homes.
On this drive, we enjoy mountain views, tour peaceful tree-lined streets, pass by Descanso Gardens, and see a number of mansions in various styles, including Colonial, French Chateau, and Tudor. There are also many examples of historic Spanish style and mid-century homes, and some modern houses, too.
We travel down Honolulu Avenue in Montrose, a main road in the historic downtown area where Christmas preparations include several musical performers and a horse-drawn cart! There is a distinct 1950s vibe to some of the architecture here.
La Cañada is home to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (known as JPL), which we glimpse in the distance across the valley.
