Last week on a short (6 mile) section hike of the AT (near Bear's Den Scenic Outlook in Virginia) my wife and I ran across a young fellow moving along at a good clip. My wife spoke to him for a little bit and he informed us he was going to start the Florida Trail this week and was going for a speed record on the trail. If I'm not mistaken, WildTurkeyTrotsThru was his moniker. I know he did about 46 miles his first day. You may run across him at some point. Best of luck on the onward trail.

Whenever you have a town day, find a potato, chop it super fine, and tape a thick layer on your blisters as long as possible (overnight if you can). Some kind of antioxidant or something draws out impurities, can't count the number of times I've used this trick!

I was hesitant about watching this hike because I thought it would be boring. I tried watching another FL trail a year or two ago and it was boring but this has been fun to watch. How could I ever think a Kelly video would be boring?! It's been so fun to watch. The beginning was hard to watch with all the water. What if you need to sit? There's no place to in the swamp. I bet you're happy to be done with that part. Thanks so much for creating these!

Hey Kelly! What a morning! Huge thanks to the trail angels for the water and snacks. You guys rock! I think you made a great choice hiking on the levee. You better go back and walk those miles you did on the scooter 😂 Blister is looking kinda ok considering all the road walking, but sucks about the pain. Great sunset to cap off a beautiful day. I hope your boys won the game! 🙏 Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well. -Grateful

I so enjoy your vlogs! After I finished the military academy, I traveled the U. S., National parks, Canada and Mexico. I repeated it all again when I finished college as well and moved to Palm Beach, Florida where I scuba dived the keys, Bahama, and the Carribian islands. I'm retired now and sooo enjoy your trips bringing back great memories! Go girl !

Great job documenting your hike through the Big Cypress. Just a heads-up to those that are thinking of hiking the section north of I75 to the reservation. The Parks department just did a controlled burn out there during the end of January. If you are planning to through hike the section you should be fine. Nobles campsite is in good shape but the rest of the loop trails are chard and dusty. All the blazes on the loop trails have not been repainted as of this post but we hope to get to them in the next couple of weeks. Please enjoy your hike and the Florida Trail! All those that would like to volunteer with trail maintenance please contact the Florida trail or the Happy Hoofers chapter.

I look forward to your vlog everyday. As I watched the sun set and the lights of town, I was reminded of your AT hike where you were probably in deep woods much of the time without an expansive view. Different kinds of beautiful. I"m headed out to run an access trail up a mountain that crosses the AT. Maybe i'll do a bit of hiking too. Stay safe.

Thanks for the tips on finding water. Im still taking notes. I’m used to hiking in mountains, where you get it naturally. I’ve been day-walking on or near the FL trail in the Orlando area. You have me thinking about longer hikes. I discovered you from your video about Ft. Desoto Park. I camped there for a few days in Dec.

Hi! Oh, your poor feet! I don't know if you can get a hold of Compeed blister bandages or something simular. I haven't tried the ones for the soles of your feet only for the heels but it made me able to continue walking almost pain free after the blister broke and the skin rubbed of and my heel was bleeding. Yes, that stupid misstake is something I don't want to repet. I wolud also get som extra strong adhesive sports tejp or medical tejp so you can secure that the band aid stays in place. I wish you the best on your hike on the Florida trail!

@wanttogo1958
@wanttogo1958 Жыл бұрын
@@kellyhays23 if the blister is draining very much a piece of Telfa pad cut to size with Leukotape on top is a very durable dressing and less expensive than the band aids you mentioned. Works for me anyway. Have you tried a liner sock to help with the heel friction?
