I never realised Barbie had so much pets over the years, since I only remember the pets (Taffy the dog, Blissa the cat and Tawny the horse) from the Barbie Life In The Dreamhouse show. So this video was a treat to watch.

Hi! Keiko the Whale was a real whale. He was the whale who played the titular whale "Willie" in Free Willie. That is why he had a name, and the seal and dolphin didn't. If I remember correctly, that's why percentage of the sales went to Save the Whales, because there was controversy over Keiko remaining in captivity and this was supposed to go toward his release

Barbie must be secretly running a puppy mill, why does my girl need that many puppies? Also the semi realistic animals are my fave.

I wonder if they called it Barbie "Pet Doctor" because they thought kids might have a hard time saying veterinarian?

Omg, you've just unlocked a memory I didn't even know I had, like.. I had no idea that I remember all the animals names from the 90/00, Dancer, Fluff, Prancer, Prince, Tiffy.. BUT! The best doll with a pet is always gonna be the original Barbie and Tanner, which is on my dream list, because my friend had it and I remember envying her soooo much, that I just must get her one day 🙈💛

I miss when EVERYTHING Barbie did was camp and glam. She could be performing heart surgery and have a flamboyant ball gown and matching accessories ready to go. But that's just not Barbie anymore, I guess 💔

Nibbles is my all time favourite Barbie horse. I actually once asked some horse reddit what colour Nibbles is meant to be and they were surprisingly stumped. They suggested she was Palomino or Cremello but apparently the tan coloured legs threw them off. I wish they made horses with the old molds. I hate the super cartoony horse faces they use and miss the fluttery eyed realistic horses.

I'm actually old enough that l had Dog 'n Duds when it came out. The outfits coordinated with Barbie's clothes. Loved that dog!

I had the 3 small kennel care sets from 2001, they were amazing! If you pushed either up or down on the mother's tail her head would go down and pick up her puppies or kittens, the mother had a magnet in her mouth and the puppies and kittens had magnets in the backs of their necks. I was so upset when I lost those 3 sets over the years

I have the Rainbow Horse, she's so beautiful! I actually had a LOT of the 90's Barbie horses as a child, but they all were lost tragically

The nostalgiaaaaaa!!!! I had the Bobbin' Bow-Wows Dalmatians, Kennel Care Barbie, and Posh Pets Kittens. I literally played for hours and years with the Sweet Sounds Pet Shop 😍 Never had a Barbie horse; Always wanted one, but the proportions between doll and horse are weird so I get put-off everytime lol. I did have the stable playset where you could swing the food troughs in and out. This worked great with the large Chestnut Ridge Horses. I often wonder where my old toys are now in the world. Hope they are still living and still loved 💛

I had High Stepper, bay watch with the dolphin, spot scene, and then just used original littlest pretty shop animals (before they went all big head). Occasional McDonald's toys also were adopted into the mix. I actually still have them and treasure them but they went absolutely overboard with throwing a pet into everything. Now, the Barbie Extra line was fun and funky and I think that deserves its own little video because those pets were wild! A crocodile, mouse, husky and more. Every time I got an Extra doll I gave the pet to my daughter because they're so goofy and outrageous, they look like they came from their own little universe.

Best pet is Ginger Barbie's doggy commercial is cute and funny I own this Barbie doll and her dog

I think I used to have Nibbles the horse, but it came with a stable...? My mum found it a flea market. Before I could even blink she had already cut Nibbles' long manes and tail, to prevend it from tangling xD Also, our cat chewed on the saddle, so I had to use a rubber band to strap the saddle onto the horse. Nibbles had it rough at my house 😂

I had the first pet doctor Barbie from 1996. I had the black version and I remember when my friends and I would play Barbie dolls everyone wanted to be that doll because she had the prettiest long light brown hair. Before this we had only seen black dolls with black hair. Still one of my favorite dolls from my childhood.

My mom had the Beauty dog as a child and she says she took it everywhere and adored it. She has wanted an afgan hound her entire life because of it! She also swears there was another dog in that line with an identical bed but in yellow (or maybe blue) but I can't find anything online.

I was very happy when I saw that you've made a video about Barbie pets and other animals, she got so many of them that I knew that it is impossible to talk about them in just one video. I am a Barbie horse collector, right now my collection consists of about 40 horses - and that's not even a half of all horses that Barbie had. There were so many editions, so many different models and moulds. In some cases there were differences in one model - depending on the part of the world it was released in. There were so many sets with carriages and stables. I am trying to destinguish all the Barbie horses moulds that were produced during the 54 years history of them - and that is a very hard work. I have three old dogs in my collection - Snowball, Tourquise/Tabasco and Prince. I would love to get Bobby and Beauty some day. I think that Beauty is a very nice dog, you found pictures of neglected one. Snowball was my childhood toy, when I started my collection I got Turquise/Tabasco and two years ego I got Prince - I was so amazed by his quality! Sometimes the pictures don't show the details and when you got something in your hands, in front of the eyes - you can see the real quality and feel it. He is the most beautiful dog in my collection, I assume that Beauty is similar. Often you can find pictures of Barbie horses with neglected, tangled hair in bad condition - and they really look bad - I got many horses in such poor condition and give them second chance to shine with all of their glory!

When I was a little girl in 1979, I wanted Beauty so badly! That was the first time I learned what an Afghan dog was. My Cousin had her, and I was green with envy.

Great video! As a kid I had barbie walking beauty and barbie pet doctor from 1996. Another one not mentioned is Barbie society hound from 2001. A collectible doll with a 1920’s inspired outfit and greyhound in a matching coat!

Avon released Talk of the Town Barbie in 2004 which came with a flocked Bichon Frise' dog. I have AA Talk of the Town Barbie. Bichon Frise' Best looking Pet, IMO.

I had the rainbow horse and sparkles, my parents got it for me because they couldn't find Pegasus from Hercules who I actually wanted but it was still a really fun toy.

I got Fluff mainly to match my Fashion Jeans Barbie. She's featured on Fluff's box. She is cheaper and way cuter than the matching Ken.

Ahh I had Prancer and Prince (and personal favourite Day-to-night Barbie) when I was little. My best friend had Dallas and the horse float and car set that matched him. Many hours of fun with those.

I had the stamping horse, the pet shop and the vet. I remember I asked for the Black vet doll because none of my Barbies looked like my friend. I was SO disappointed when she was the exact same barbie mold just brown. Years later a kid I was babysitting had a black barbie with a curly fro and black facial features and Iegit cried.

This was great to see. However, the dog you called "Jamie" (1970-71) was not the dog's name, but the doll's name. The doll was using the current twist-n-turn Barbie head mold (1967), but it was a new character with centered brown eyes, exclusively for the sears catalog retailer. It was "new and wonderful walking Jamie". The dog that came with Jamie didn't have a name. It was just included as Jamie's dog. No matter, this was a great review of the history of Barbie dolls pet's. Great idea! Well done.

It would be fun to see you tackle every barbie movie pet or companion in the movie!! Every movie she had to have a pet or non barbie doll charater companion that follows her or helps her at some point in the movie and got a toy 🤣 ah yes I would love a whole play set based on that one charater we saw for 2 minutes 🤣

Oh my god, I had Ocean Friends Ken and his dolphin as a kid! Actually, I’m pretty sure I also had Kira, (but not the seal? I think my parents got them for me secondhand) but my brother ripped their heads off one day and my parents were only able to get Ken’s head back on, as Kira’s neck had broken… Except Ken’s head never QUITE stayed on most of the time, so I gave up on trying to keep it in place and just officially called him Headless Ken, and he was the leader of the other headless barbie dolls (courtesy of my brother), or sometimes I’d play out weird love triangles between Barbie, Headless Ken, and Ken’s Head lol (Eventually when I wanted her to have a non-decapitated love interest, I took one of my brother’s bionicles to be her robot boyfriend) Hmm. Headless Ken/The Headless Kens would be a great band name…

My daughter currently has a couple of the newer sets that included puppies (newborn/mom and puppy stroller) and a cat for Chelsea (I think), but never knew there were so many pets before that. I remember as a kid seeing some of the commercials and in the toy stores of course, but I thought it was limited to dogs, horses, and later the whale. Very fun video to watch-thanks!

Yes My name is Dido Ryan I had a many pets in my life, Here are all my animals I had in my hole life from 2004-2024 in Tasmania. First 2 cats, 6 hens and 1 rustler, then many more hens and Reuters, 7 Sheep and 1 friendly ram, Peacocks and peahens, One by one budgie twice then 1 Connery. This year 2024 I got 1 new female cat.

I wished you’d do a video of just Barbie Horses. Seems like you could fill up a whole video with just the 🐎

I remember when I was really young having a horse drawn carriage. I believe the horse was white. I also had a Sea World Barbie but I don’t remember if it came with an animal. I never understood why the Barbie movie chose to present horses as this exotic outside world thing when horses were always such an integral part of the Barbie universe. I had one of her 90s horses growing up, not really sure which. It came with a whole trailer. It was quite spectacular. I also had the first Pet Doctor Barbie. I remember playing with that cat and dog for years.

It wasn’t Barbie per se, but there was a line with Skipper, Courtney, and Kevin and they all had a pet with like color coordinated outfits. I don’t remember the name of the line but Skipper had a white westie, Courtney had a brown kitty, and Kevin had a Dalmatian (I had all of these lol).

I am Native American, not Inuit or Alaska Native, but I have met and spoken to some and they do not like being referred to with the term "eskimo". It is actually considered somewhat of a slur to the Inuit in Canada specifically, it seems. This word does have a history of being used in a derogatory way though, so I wanted to let you know in case you've never heard this before. You don't even live on this side of the ocean, I don't think any of us to expect foreigners to know what we prefer or that we even still exist.. but we do. Once again, I'm a big fan of the content so I hope this won't be interpreted as hate.
