A work colleague has a brother who caught Lyme disease and it seriously changed his life. It was forever before he was diagnosed and without that treatment and insurance was a real pain. He had to stop working and he was sick a lot of the time. We live in Alberta Canada so we have ticks here too. Cinch your pant legs and cuffs. Check yourself over if you’re out walking. 🇨🇦🇨🇦

We have all sorts of ticks here in Australia. If we do not regularly treat our dogs for ticks, flees and heart worm, our dogs die. Beavers will reuse materials for dams but not for the lodges as the lodge is the winter food store. I guess that almost as much of a problem as the flooding, is the channels that the beavers cut into the fields as they head out to food stands and trees.

THE BEAVERS ARE RELENTLESS!!! Here in Ottawa, Canada, 10 years ago we didn't have to worry about ticks in our area. Now, we have to wear long pants and/or use a spray to protect ourselves from Ticks. Something else a person, doing what you do in your videos, has to be aware of is that in many of our lakes and ponds, one can 'catch' something called “Beaver fever.” That's the common name for giardiasis (Giardia). In Canada, we also have an insect called a "Black Fly." It is a flying insect. It's only about 2mm in length. It's silent. It bites, and in doing this, it causes a tiny little bleed. When Europeans come over and are bitten for the first time they sometimes swell up significantly (a 'blister which is at least half the size of your hand). It's usually not a concern and the swelling will disappear in a few days. In areas of our country where there are many still (No or minimal current) lakes, ponds, ... a person (and many animals) has to protect themself from both the mosquitos and black flies; not to mention, the Deer Flies, Horse Flies, Hornets, ...!! In Northern Ontario, as in many remote areas, horses must be kept indoors during the worst of it (Usually August) or they will actually go crazy!!! Though beavers don't reuse branches/sticks, muskrats will, even though their incisors, like all rodents, also keep growing. Many rodents grind their incisors against their bottom teeth to control the length. Muskrats have been known to work along with beavers building a dam; however, muskrats don't build their own dams, though they will block a small culvert. What about beavers' orange-coloured teeth?
@Kenislovas
@Kenislovas 3 ай бұрын
We also have many other insects which attacks animals also humans. This is the reason I am always with hoodie in my videos :) Orange coloured teeths I think gets pigment from trees that's why ?

I am just trying to recover from lyme disease with nerve damage. The symptoms appeared many months after being bitten by a tick. The fourth doctor I visited had seen this once in 35 years. A had to take a quadruple doses of broad spectra antibiotics. The tick bit me on the back of the knee. I removed it. Nothing happened then. Four months later a solid circle appeared on the back of the knee. The circle then transformed to a ring that went bigger and bigger. I got nerve pain from the ankle to the groin. I also lost the feeling on the skin around the knee. The antibiotics have removed the nerve pain but the loss of feeling is still there. As I learned this is a rare condition. It can appear many years after the bite. It can affekt the brain, the heart and also cause loss of feeling in hands and feet.

What beavers accomplish benefits ecology on nearly every level and should be encouraged not torn down when possible! If there is a specific conflict from retained / higher water, that should be explained and dealt with in the least invasive ways possible to both promote healthy ecology and also to allow these amazingly beneficial “natures ecosystem engineers” to provide the habitats and other benefits their work ensures, and to allow their continued existence without constant harassment or worse!

Wow that's only two weeks? I remember that spot. The thing you didn't mention about the beavers is that most of those sticks you took off this time had the bark chewed off because that's what they eat. When they're done eating they just add the stick to the dam. Pretty efficient aren't they?
