I seen something today with my own eyes that shocked me so many say that beavers will not reuse old materials. But today I witnessed a beaver diving down to the bottom of the pond and bringing up sticks and mud and using them to build his damn with. And the first person that I thought I should share this with is you. You work so hard to prevent the beavers from building new dams and tearing down their dams. I felt that I should share that information with you.

Just curious, why did you need to destroy the beaver dam? Too much water backed up and flooding surrounding property?

@@TerrellSpivey Yeah that's a problem. Did the beavers start rebuilding another dam the next day? Have you thought about rigging up a system that can limit how high the water level gets in the pond? Some are called "beaver deceivers" that allow water to flow out to keep the water level from getting too high. With all these droughts and heat waves you may need that water in the near future.

@@TerrellSpivey There was one video I wanted to share with you but I can't find it again, so I'll share these. In the one I wanted to share they used two pipes about as big as in this first video below. They carved out a section on top of the dam as deep down as they needed maybe a foot or so and then piled up a bunch of thick branches on top of the pipes. Then they made another breach in the dam maybe a foot or so over to the left of the pipes. Sure enough the beavers came to fix that breach completely ignoring the spot were the pipes were. The pipes they used were about the size of the one in this short video. kzfaq.info5UuG5I9Tt_w These other two videos involve more work but they both got the job done. I don't know if you'd consider doing this but from what I've already seen you do if anyone could do this you can! Terrell, I was wondering if you could dig out the base of this dam. would not the dam collapse and wash everything away? that is that this particular dam was mainly grass and twigs.
