you can see how this dam is flooding the field ,If I may suggest ,a drone view would have been great to show how much water was in the field before and after so people could get a better understanding of the importance of what you do here, this was a huge amount of water you released , a Very good job indeed ,early march we have birds back from Mexico swallows and purple Martins ,Robins ,and others here in Texas

the hummingbirds will be here in montana very soon they fly up to bred here and canada then leave in september, the robinscome soon also then we know spring is here , the ducks and geese will be back by june but some now stay all winter

Interesting that you have birds going to Africa during Winter. Here in Canada we have the wild geese that migrate to the Southern US and Mexico during Winter, and they return to the North in great numbers when Spring comes, around April usually.

I was really looking forward to this after seeing the dam in the last culvert video! That was a lot of work. If you hadn't have cleared it, I would have thought there was a concrete wall under all that mud! It was satisfying to see that stream coming off of the fields. Nice removal! About birds: over here in Guadalajara in central Spain we have swifts, housemartins and swallows come around this time of the year. They leave back to Africa in August. The sky of the whole city is very busy all day long with swifts, and they free us from flies and mosquitos, which is an excellnt service. We love the birds!!

I live near New York City and have numerous bird feeders in my yard. I see different birds all the time. Since Spring is knocking on the door, I saw my first Robin the other day. I love feeding the birds and watching your videos. I don’t have any actual beavers in my area, but I have human beavers that clog culverts and drains with garbage litter that I always clean up after. Anyways keep up the good work.

What a difference the removal made! Great work my friend. Here in the states one of the most massive migrations is of the monarch butterfly, which flies 2,500 miles from Mexico to the eastern United States.

Love your home made rake! Perfectly adapted! I would take down the center of the dam and then work your way out to let the water help deconstruct it

Tearing down such a large dam certainly makes excellent video. You have to keep in mind that the penned up water is not only in the canal, but also in the water table of the ground on either side. Lowering the dam in increments allows the ground water adjacent to the canal to more slowly find its way into the canal.

Enjoy your videos beyond belief! There is a tool out that is called a garden weasel...multiple prongs that may help to dig the top layer away as well as the lower layers...just a suggestion.

In the Midwest of the U.S. we have Canadian Geese that migrate South in the Fall/Winter and come back North in the Spring/Summer. Their migratory flight path runs through my state, so we see a lot of them flying around those times of the year. We also have a lot of farm land here and the birds stop to forage for corn, wheat, and soy beans that are left on the ground after the harvest in the Fall, before their long flight South.

Great job! It looks totally different. I'm amazed at the neglect of the drainage ditches. The people there are very lucky to have someone like you doing this for free! You could make money doing this. However, I know it's your hobby and your job is being a farrier.🐎

Good job! That was really hard work I'm sure. This dam highlighted the need to remove these dams as the erosion was blatantly obvious. It also made clear why you need an excavator in order to remove the dam fully to make it more difficult for the beavers to rebuild and for you to be able to work more efficiently. Removing all of that dam by manual labour alone is too much to ask. Especially when you are not being paid for it.

You do such a great job! To answer the migratory bird question: one bird we have in our area, the Kirtlands Warbler, migrates from winters in Bermuda to the Jack Pine groves of northern Michigan. They’re very particular about their nesting habitat and have been on the Endangered Species List for a long time. But the numbers are climbing so there’s hope.

I live in the USA and my state is Rhode Island. We have ruby throated hummingbirds that migrate to Mexico for the winter!

greetings from Toronto, Canada. Love your videos. One of our interesting migratory creatures is the Monarch Butterfly, which travels from central Mexico (Michoacan) all the way to Canada. It takes a few generations to make the journey.

I really enjoy watching your hard work. It is very therapeutic. Thank you for filming the work you do and streaming it online. Here on the Oregon coast in the USA, we have geese migrating every year in large numbers. We also have Swifts that spend the winter in South America and return in April; and May. We have two nesting boxes I made on our house and have hosted clutches of Swifts now for two years in a roll. Swifts pair for life, unless one dies for some reason, so we believe we had the same pair for the past two years, as they return to the same nests if they can. Last year, I was slow putting the boxes back up after taking them down to refresh over the winter. The Swifts came back and were all over out house where the boxes had been the two years before, so I had to quickly put the back up so they could move in. The first year they had three babies and last year four, which is the most they have typically each year.

Some of those sticks and debris can go into the colvert, I think. But I’m not a professional so I just watch and enjoy!😊

Another great job!! Yes, we do have migrating birds, the Robin, Blue Jay and the Orioles are some but the most interesting is the Hummingbirds, they are about the size of a mans thumb and when go south they fly up to migrating geese or ducks and land on their backs and catch a ride south. Google them, they are very interesting little birds and amazing to watch hovering around a feeder, which is filled with sugar water with a red dye to attract them.

Looks like hard work. I'd be inclined to bash a few poles down into the dam, attach them to ropes and use the vehicle to pull the thing apart.
