With his influences ranging from Hank William’s country stylings to Prince’s slithery funk, Beck is a generation X icon like no other. On albums like Mellow Gold and Odelay he self-consciously blended folk, hip hop, pop, psychedelic rock and country into a post-modern mish mash that was entirely his own.
