This is the best interior photography video ever. Thanks for not pushing flambient using absolutely hideous images. Thanks for posting gorgeous interior shots that show great color, depth, and composition, FFS. Thank you, thank you.

So nice to hear someone say it! I absolutely detest the window pulled heavy weighted on flash, flambient images that most youtube people push. I only use flash composites for high end work and its very subtle. Real estate is ambient only.
@richdie72
@richdie72 Жыл бұрын
I’m a full time interior photographer who studied art. Trying to explain to people why the window pull is so bad (mostly) is very tricky. It also really flattens the image. My attention always goes immediately to the windows which is just wrong. All the editors that constantly contact me all do it too. Who wants to see that parked car or house across the road.

Flambient is great and the editing doesn't have to include window pulls. The whole idea is to kill white balance and color cast issues using flash and blend in natural light. You can use as much ambient light as you personally feel like.

Easily one of the best guides to real estate photography. Clear explanations of some complex rather concept concepts. You've packed the majority of a real estate gig into 11:25min, that's pretty impressive.

Maybe a little tip for the 3 exposure shooters. When you set your camera in the 3 exposures and set your camera to a timer, it will shoot the 3 exposures automatically in a row. You don’t have to shoot the 3 photos manually.

Been a photographer for decades, and I have often worked professionally. I've never taken interior shots like this, but being an experienced photographer generally, I can tell she really knows what she's talking about. Concise and very clearly outlined with excellent example images. Well done, and thank you.

@@BeckiandChris In an ideal world I could get out of working manual labor and focus solely on my creative endeavors. I've been trying and working at it for well over a decade. I run a recording studio, make as many videos as I can and take photos every chance I get. One day out of perseverance alone I will succeed. I must keep pushing.

Thanks for the excellent video. Very complete and useful information. The only info I found lacking was: 1. Using fill flash to light a room. 2. Using polarizing filter to control unwanted reflections. 3. Using shift/tilt lens to control perspective and/or depth-of-field.

Keystoning. New phrase. Didn’t know that one. Thanks!
@tylerhuttosmith
@tylerhuttosmith 2 жыл бұрын
Ah man, thank you for going more natural and not crazy HDR and clarity. An additional tip is if you have keystoning in your shot, zoom out or move back a bit (if possible), because LR may crop in a bit for the alignment tool. Also tilt shift lenses are cool to help with this if your budget allows. Or you can go ridiculous like me and shoot with a 4x5 view camera and fix keystoning in camera.

Couple other questions: Why F8-F11 as opposed to F14-F20? Is there any real noticable difference? Why 3 bracket instead of 5? - I've always shot 5 as I (could be wrong) think that gives more highlight and shadow range. Am I wrong? Would have liked to see positions for the 1.4-2.8 50mm depth shots. That's definitely something I struggle with the most - getting those shots, where to position the angles, etc. Diagrams of rooms maybe - showcasing a typical setup, where to position yourself/the cam, in comparison with the subject, etc - this is a more specific request, just something I'll develop over time too I suppose. None of my questions are wrong/rights - I'm more asking from an improvement/workflow point of view. If I can improve my skills, why not. And if I can save Harddrive space on RAWs as well and it's not making a massive difference, then why not haha

I'm so with you in terms of using natural light. I started out years ago using a flash and I hate it now. Silly things like shadows in slightly weird places.
@MTD369
@MTD369 2 жыл бұрын
you just gotta learn to blend and light paint effectively, and use luminosity layers. Adding flash shots to simulate the direction of where the sun comes from. That way you maintain the richness and saturation of colors with the flash and keep the natural shadows. Mike Kelley or Scott Hargis are the ones to learn from. This is kind of your more basic HDR edit.
