I worked at an immigration law office. It's not that easy, because he was deported he would have to wait 10 years before he could apply to come back. If they had met in Mexico and he hadn't crossed the border illegally in 18-24 months after they married he probably could get a green card ,but not a permanent one, to come to the US but that's not what happened.

This line made me mad. I’m white and I was never even approved for a credit card until I was 30 years old because I’ve had my identity stolen TWICE! Once when I was 18, before I even had a checking account and again when I was 23. It’s followed me around my entire adult life. It’s made it incredibly difficult for me to get approved for a car loan, regardless of my high credit score and buying a house with my husband was a nightmare with getting a mortgage approval. I don’t just walk into a bank and get a loan and it’s just handed to me because I’m white. Things like this make me so angry.

cfjermedal the line is more about perception not ability. of course you have a story or a background everyone does but as a black woman with an education a two parent household and excellent credit score I could bet money if I walk in a car dealership and a white male for example walks in at the same time a majority of the time they’ll cater to the white male first. There’s a perception that Hispanic people are immigrants don’t belong in this country can’t speak English etc so if you or someone Caucasian were to compete for the same position in a job perhaps your looks would get you in the door faster. Kevin vs Kavonte whose resume would you pick up first? No one said white people have it easier per se but as a woman who has experienced that bias and know plenty of people that have it would be borderline ignorant to ignore that this country does stereotype. No one is ignoring your story or assuming they know your history and background but as a minority I’m just respectfully breaking down the sentence and hoping you would recognize that minorities (including Hispanics Asian Americans etc) have to struggle to get in the door.

It just will never have the same feel as it once did. The original run of Roseanne in the late 80s and early 90s could take dark stuff and tragedies and the deadpan humor just rolled so easily and effortlessly. Mainly thanks to Roseannes delivery. Now it’s just so forced and unfunny.

Long island for instance was bought by settlers from a tribe then the tribe came back and wanted it but the settlers said no and that war began.
