Say what you will about Sue, but she’s always treated Becky as normal. She was hard on her because she’s hard on everyone.

This was a character development I loved deeply.

Brittany bought Becky a cupcake, so Becky thought all Cheerios we’re nice and cool like Brittany. Becky ended up auditioning because of that small act of kindness from Brittany.

Becky grew so much over the show, she gained so much confidence and almost turned bitchy towards the end

I love that Sue Sylvester came across as "hard" on Becky and treated Becky like she treated the other cheerleaders. Then the big secret was out that Sue's own sister had Down Syndrome and that is why she treats Becky as an equal.

I love this scene because of how they build it up. Sue has no emotion on her face during Becky's tryout which leads you to assume she's going to be mean like always and then they surprise you when she accepts her. This still leaves you wondering what the hell she's actually doing and then when you meet Sue's sister it makes you realize Sue does actually have a heart and genuinely wants Becky to be on the team so she can feel accepted. Beautifully done scene.

Will's face is literally just him fearing for Becky's life

Becky is the only person that Sue respects for the entire series and even making her as her personal minion

That smile with the head tilt Becky does when Sue tells her she's in melts my heart. One of my friends from high school had downs, it really pissed me off that the special ed kids were kept away from everyone else and taught nothing but service training...somehow she always found me for a few minutes a day and would hold my hand tightly while she happily told me all about her day. I later became her caregiver and she made me forget that I was at work. She loved to play and she loved life with her whole heart. She smiled so big with her head tilted too...she died a few months ago, just shy of her 31st birthday and I'm still frozen in place and wishing for just one more squeeze of her hand. RIP Chrysta I love you

When sue is portrayed as the villain in the show but she has done countless of kind things such as this. She is one of my favs

Funny how in later episodes Will had no problem at all telling Becky she couldn’t be in the Glee Club.

Will’s face around 0:21 and the “what are you up to Sue” line at the end really shows how close minded he actually was. His inherent bias made him believe that Sue was “up to something” before he could consider that Sue actually wanted Becky on the Cheerios, which she did. Becky might be the longest-serving Cheerio, considering she was never kicked off the team for a significant portion and often worked as Sue’s second in command.

The fact that mr. Shue said “be nice” shows that he already views Becky as different and less then. I can’t stand Mr. Shue. Sue had no problem with Becky she never said anything mean.

Will's thinking "Sue's gonna be mean to the r-word girl, she's so different and weak! Oh no we need to be nice to this poor simple Downs girl because she has Downs. Did I mention the Downs?" Sue's thinking "They really want me to pick someone and I rejected a bunch already, this girl reminds me of my beloved sister so wtf let's do it"

I like how Will assumed she had some master plan for giving a girl with down syndrome a spot. Don't worry Will, you're still the only person who uses people that don't fit society's idea of perfect for his own personal gain and title.

This is a big moment where you see the difference in will and sue’s ideology. She is the one who truly sees everyone as equals where as will thinks people should be treated differently based on who they are. Obviously it depends on the situation and a midpoint between the two is best but it’s honestly people like will who can cause a lot of harm without intending to. Some people who try to be “accepting” end up just othering people a lot.
