Becky! The placenta gets biopsied to check for any issues that Henry could have later. So if the placenta ever had an infection or there was an issue with blood flow then you know to watch Henry for some specific issues later so they can be diagnosed and dealt with earlier than if you didn't know. Sometimes it's standard procedure in a hospital but it's probably cause he was a preemie and they're just being super cautious.

My mil is amazing. My mother not so forgiving. As a mom in the trenches, I get it. When my kids have children, on Mother's day I will celebrate them and show support to them as I understand how difficult motherhood is. Welcome to club, I'm here for you.

We Japanese eat Tofu raw. Super normal. Soft silky tofu with scallion, ginger and soy sauce is a common Japanese dish. It's so hard to find good tofu in north america though. I miss good quality tofu so much.

I had a neighbor post on Nextdoor that “a person” was eating her pumpkins that were on her porch in October 2022. She posted pictures and it was clear a squirrel was the culprit, and no matter what anyone else said, she was ADAMANT that it was a person nibbling on her pumpkins.

Grandparents should be the one to commute to see the grandchildren on Mother’s Day. Especially if they have young children

There is Grandparents’ Day. It’s in September. There’s also Grandmother’s Day (October) & Grandfather’s Day (January). To me, a “mom in the trenches” is every mom. All stages of parenting are hard, yet rewarding, in their own ways. If I become a grandma, my focus on Mother’s Day will the mother(s) of my grandkid(s).

It's pretty normal for placentas to get sent off for testing after birth but I don't know why they didn't just tell you that to begin with. It's to check for a few things sometimes but not abnormal. Wild they didn't tell you out right or put that on your bill

Someone who has a child in the house under 18 is the one who decides how to spend the day. It's like usually once a kid is old enough to know what xmas is, is the year you start celebrating xmas morning in your own house. Up to then most people i know travel to family for xmas, usually whichever in laws were not seen at Thanksgiving but once a kid knows Santa, nope. Xmas morning is in the child's house.

Similar thing happened to me. Before my second surgery, I pre-paid for everything: surgeon, anesthesiologist, hospital overhead, hospital lab, etc. So, a few weeks later, I got a bill from the lab. I called to find out why. They explained that they had to send the samples to a different lab to get lab results. >.>

The best way I see to make everyone happy for Mother’s Day: Dad takes baby to his moms while you go have lunch with your mom, your mom then comes over or dad comes with baby to moms mom and grandma watches baby while dad and mom go get dinner. That way each mom feels celebrated and everyone gets a little slice of baby time.

I'm not a baker but I have successfully made bread several times using Maangchi's Fluffy homemade bread (Ppang: 빵만들기) recipe. It's not a difficult recipe and does not require a starter. Regarding the Instant Pot, I used a wooden spoon to a quick release. I love making yogurt with it! I'm on Next Door but I don't comment. I use it mainly for crime alerts, service recommendations and community info.

Here’s my take on this whole Mother’s day debate: where are the husbands, brothers, sons, and non-moms in all this? Okay, yeah I fully support new moms not wanting to drive an hour to for their mother to see their grandkids or have the task of hosting. And I also see grandmothers being upset by feeling sidelined. So why aren’t other people (their spouses and non-moms) taking on these roles. I think this “debate” speaks more to how much pressure moms feel and all the things they’re expected to do, even on a day meant for them, but I’m also not a mom so what do I know lol

Tbh, tofu depends on how it's prepared. If it's eaten as is, then I could see the "ICK!" factor. However, it can be grilled, sautéed, in soups, etc. If you're into spicy, then I highly recommend mapo tofu. Tofu takes on whatever sauce it's cooked with. When you eat mapo tofu, then you taste the sauce not the tofu. Just sayin'

There is a Grandparent's day. I say Mother's Day is for the youngest mom in the cycle of matriarchy. Meaning if you have a child who has no children, you are the one celebrated on Mother's Day. Once your child has their own child you are no longer celebrated.

@@bug.me.with.a.caterpiethis is a weird take lol. Women of color are absolutely heros. But if your point is that all white women are Karens, someone disagreeing with that point doesn’t prove it…like unless they were a white woman being a Karen about it. but simply disagreeing doesn’t equal being a Karen…right? all I see is someone disagreeing with your point and instead of rightfully logically defending yourself (which def could have been done, like I said, woc are 100% heros, there is 100% a correlation between white women and karens, etc.), you swung and missed right past a good argument lol
