Can't imagine how tough it is to be a pro athlete and a parent to a new born at the same time. It must be so hard to leave Scarlett and Mimi but your work ethic sets a great example for your daughter to grow up around! And props to Mimi for being so strong and supportive!

@@kennethlawrence5941 Most people don't travel for work the way Matt does. Most people gone 40 - 50 hours a week for work and come home at night and have weekends off. Matt is going to be gone for 10 days for this trip and a few days at a time regularly during the season too.

@@1310beth 100% correct, football is not your regular 9-5 job. Constantly spending time with the team, away weekends etc. Different lifestyle to most for sure.

@@btn1 not at all uncommon but yes tiring and stressful. think military moms and dads who do it all the time. Better examples. he is s journeyman fullback that has had a decent career but produces excellent content for his vieweres

The hard truth is that those homegrown players know somebody or have connections Sheldon doesn't, football is a pay to play sport in the US and many parts of the world sadly

It also shows how tough it is and that it comes down to luck. But the OG’s know the set backs Matt gone through, a lot would have quit.

Antoine Hoppenot was one our best players at DCFC last season. I was bummed he left for Hartford, but it’s cool I’ll still get to see him in the videos this season!!

That looks like the facilities owned and used by Oakwood Soccer Club. It’s amazing that you get to train on those very nice fields during your preseason! I have refereed youth academy games there as a matter of fact.

Welcome to the NorthEast! You're very lucky thus far. This has been one of the warmest winters on record. We've literally have had zero snowfall so far in the NYC area as far north as Westchester. Growing up playing competitive travel/youth soccer then HS and college (st john's u), we almost never were outdoors in February. Really not until early April at best. Enjoy it.

Really miss your videos on KZfaq. When this is notified, I was surprised to learn that you joined Hartford. Thru this vid (u can film a lot inside training, that's great), I think this is a great team and things look promising. I'm planning for marriage next year, also thinking about babies. Watching you through the time in New Zealand, back to US, season after season, become a husband then a father really motivated me live my life better, in any stage. As a CT resident myself I recommend Blue Back Square in West Hartford for a nice time out with the wife and some great food. Keep up the tough preseason training. Look forward to watching you play 💪
