Natalia and Brooke make the BEST bouldering team. So proud they represent the USA ! They should inspire young folks to be better and do better ! I love how supportive they are of each other even though they compete against each other !

Amazing video! And yeah 100% agree with Brooke here, winning a comp isn't about being the strongest or even the best climber in the world, its about being consistent, versatile and performing at peak levels when it matters. No one can take that away from Natalia, she performed incredibly well when it mattered!

Natalia is definitely one of the BEST, having every qualifications as a champion. Don't be bothered by those ignorant bastards. They know nothing about the spirit of climbing. They are just envying your achievements. And they are actually just a tiny group. So please continue your great journey, and I'd love to see you on every wall. and the most important, yes, enjoy yourself there!

I think the old fashioned term 'Classy' applies here. Modest, but honest, no shit-talking, real and gracious.

She also beat Janja in one comp and Miho in the other so idk what the haters are on about with "urr Akiyo wasn't there". She topped all boulders and beat the world's best, completely deserved title

Thanks for hosting this interview @Ascentionism, great questions and well presented. I feel like Brooke and Natalia's friendship really drives them forward and pushes them more and more. I can't imagine how awesome it must be to climb at the highest level with your mate by your side. I'll use this opportunity to shill out the BlokCorp channel, a lesser known channel (270 subscribers rn) who have had interviews with a lot of pro and up and coming athletes including Natalia Grossman but also Futaba Ito and Orianne Bertonne among others, they said they were planning one with Brooke hopefully. I hope it's ok to do so. Here's the link to the Natalia interview from July 2021: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/os58rdd_ls6naHk.html

In my opinion there's no need to apologize for a win. It takes skill even to just sort of hang in there and compete with the best. Yeah, sometimes the favorite has a bad day and the underdog has a good day. Who cares? It doesn't matter long term because similar situations happen also in reverse. It's like that in any sport.

Janja is currenly at the top, and i didn't see any chance she's slipping. Natalia did win in salt lake and Moscow. but Janja won everything else. Natalia may be better in the future, but she needs to consistently be on the podium before that.

Janja is just two years older than Natalia and shows no sign of slowing down.

I wouldn’t say that she’s above janja yet. She has potential to be, but Janja’s beat her more consistently than she’s beat janja

Hahaha sorry for using your comment! I tried to dig through old Reddit and FB posts to see if I could find some more negative ones, but the only ones I could find were on my video. For what it's worth, I agree - Janja is so insanely dominant and looked so good even in the comps that Natalia won

how is janja not #1 anymore? hasnt she won all the major events?
@ascentionism2 жыл бұрын
Natalia had more victories in 2021 (3 world cup wins to Janja's2, I believe). It's important to note that Janja didn't compete in Moscow, though, which was where Natalia clinched the season title. Still, as it stands, Natalia is ranked #1 on the IFSC site

maybe its because im not a native english speaker, but it seems crazy how often she uses the word "like" as a filler of all sorts. i feel tempted to count... must be about twice in every sentence at least.
@jennaq51722 жыл бұрын
Yes I'd say it's definitely an English speaking thing (at least for North America). You're exactly right it's just a filler word that alot of people use without thinking about it
@calimon00 Жыл бұрын
It’s a terribly lazy habit. But it’s also a social signifier of something to the effect of “I’m so cool I can’t be bothered to try to articulate myself effectively and clearly.”” that was established by celebrities like Paris Hilton, and the Kardashians.
