Hi :)
In this video I talk about some of the differences between bedding pellets and shavings when using these for horse bedding.
Personally I'm quite a fan of bedding pellets and have come across quite a few people who are not entirely sure on how to use them.
So, apart from covering some of the differences between bedding pellets and shavings, I will also show you how I use the bedding pellets for horse bedding.
Enjoy the video, and feel free to share it with others!
Then visit my web site at www.HorseBoardi... for more great information.

I was looking for your sifting device video, but did not see it posted. I thought you might like to see this one, it works amazingly well with cob bedding and it probably works just as well with pellets, especially if you have 9 stalls like you do. I sent a video response to the link but you can type in shaken fork and I think it will show up.

My mare stable walks so her bed gets messy no matter what 😕 she can’t have straw because she eats it so we had her on shavings but went through 2/3 bags a week and decided to try pellet bedding. So much cheaper, gave her 3 bags to set up her bed and top up 1 bag a week and 2 bags on a full clean out

Have you tried hemp horse bedding? We would be interested to know your thoughts on this equine stall bedding vs. pine pellets, shavings, or sawdust.
@RonayeIreland
@RonayeIreland 5 жыл бұрын
No, I never tried hemp. I've not seen it available as an option in my area. I have however been in touch with a thoroughbred racing farm who uses peat moss with great success.

How do you control the dust? Initially, the pelleted bedding was great, super absorbent but all of a sudden it’s crazy dusty!! Do you spray with water regularly or take out old and put in new even if it’s not soiled? Thanks

15 minutes isn't bad for a stall. The amount of time it takes is very dependent on how large the stall is and how deep you put the bedding and whether or not your horse can go in and out at free will. What I love about the bedding pellets is that I get so little of the pellets in the manure pile, which gives me a much better quality composted manure :)

Do you need to use Stall Dry with the pellet bedding?
@RonayeIreland
@RonayeIreland 3 жыл бұрын
I've never had to use Stall Dry with the pellets. They are so incredibly absorbent, even after wetting them the way I do. :)

I don't have dogs, so can't comment on that. I do use the pellets for my cats which works fine :)

What are your thoughts on pencil shavings? they have graphite in them....
@RonayeIreland
@RonayeIreland 5 жыл бұрын
In all honesty, I've never seen pencil shavings in my area, so can't really give you an educated comment on that. I do know that you want to stay away from anything that may contain black walnut shavings. Horses are extremely sensitive to this stuff.

I watched the video and looks so interesting. I am from Bahrain and i was thinking to produce wood shaving to try and sell to the local horse stables, but when I came to know about your product , I thought maybe I can try and sell your product here in Bahrain. May I ask you if you send me price information and minimum supply quantity. Can you also make a financial comparison between your product and the wood chip. I need as much information as you can to enable me to know your product well enough to pass it on to the consumer. Regards, Mahmood Ali . CASA GATE DECOR CONTRACTING.

Bedding won't stop a horse getting cast unless the banks are almost as tall as the horse laying down, the best way to prevent casting is to attach cast strips around the walls

I do not like pellets You are wetting them no matter what they hold moister. Not good if you have a horse who is prone to thrush . No go for me.

We use clean shavings for our horses and on the compost heap it last a few months longer, it cannot be a reason not to use clean shavings. We will never put preservatives in our horse stalls, the preservatives can hurt the breathing system of the horses. I find this not a good video.
@RonayeIreland

The video is about how to use the pellets. I understand your concerns, and considering that there are many manufacturers out there that produce pellets, I'm sure there are brands available without preservatives. Shavings I'm sure aren't all created equal either. ;)

What a waste of money and time,. My horse has a small very thick bed of sawdust or shavings which lasts forever as she manures in the corner and pees in my bucket, for a carrot. Very little shavings get to my heap, the only cost is the petrol getting them from the carpenters.

You're lucky to have a horse that doesn't need much. But when you're dealing with a boarding facility and care for more than 10 horses, the type of bedding you use becomes subject to a whole bunch of different criteria. Horses are as much an individual as humans are, and each have different routines when it comes to their hygiene :) Some may be as clean as yours, while others create an absolute mess.
