Love the way you have to stop yourself from doing two things at once! I’m the same, but only actually stop myself from moving onto something else about 1/2 the time…guess I should work on that! Thanks for the tip on the cardboard. So many people use mostly paper or cardboard and I agree, the worms don’t like it as much. Mine love shredded leaves and rabbit droppings! Your mix looks like it would feel so nice. Thanks for sharing! So glad you’re back.

When it's just me and the worms, I've got this certain routine, but in front of the camera, I get discombobbulated and my mind races ahead of my actions. LOL! Thanks for watching and commenting. I love it how we can all learn from each other, no matter where we are in the world.

I just got a source for aged horse manure. I was afraid I’d have flu issues with it but haven’t. The worms absolutely love it!!! I do mix in some shredded leaves and a few other things so I don’t overload them, the breeders never finish off the bedding. I’m amazed at the size of my Euros in this stuff! They are huge and only get worm chow once a week, more for the calcium and grit than anything. Next round I’m going to add 1/4 cup of chow to bedding like KZfaq guy does and see if I can go without feeding them at during the 21 day cycle. I think everyone should try horse manure if they can find it. I’m absolutely amazed with how well they do in it! Hope your son is doing well and everyone is at peace during this time of trial.

Super excellent instructional video. I really liked it that you measured your bedding, chow and water before mixing. 👍👍 I know the measuring does not have to be done, I also know when the measuring is done things can be dialed in to be perfect or near perfect and then can be repeated. 👍👍 Also, thanks for weighing and gently brushing the worms to get correct weight of worms, it just shows that you have good record keeping practices. It was also cool to see how you refresh the bedding for the cocoons and hatchlings. Very professional 👍👍 Have a wonderful Day!

In the industry, Cultured Nightcrawlers are the name for Eudrilus eugeniae grown using the UNCO method. They are sold to the fisherman/fisherwomen as non-refrigerated nightcrawlers in bait cups. When people use them to reduce waste using traditional vermicomposting methods, they are called ANC's. Basically, cultured nightcrawler is more of a professional name with links/reference to the method they are grown. Have a great Day!

I wish I would remember to take a paint brush down stairs. It is amazing that they are so big while being crowded. Mine are always so skinny. I didn't know you sold them. Is that new?

The fat ones are in my breeder bins and get fed worm chow only. The ones I feed food scraps to are outside and are sometimes fat, but mostly skinnier. I've been selling locally for over a year now and always run low.

For a breeder bin, I change the bedding every 3 weeks. For a grow-out bin, I wait until the bedding is about 90-95% composted before sifting for black gold and changing the bedding.

So many people don’t know that Peat moss is antimicrobial.. So it’s not a great medium for worms who live on microbes or for castings or gardens.

My worms are MUCH bigger than I see on videos. Three to 5 inches and fat! Am I feeding them too much? What’s going on? This is my first attempt at “growing” worms. Advice please.

Is it possible they are Europe Nightcrawler’s? They look a lot like reds but get as fat as a pencil. They tend to move a bit slower as well, especially when you first uncover them and expose them to light.

For breeding there’s no need to add a lot of bedding, a couple inches is plenty. If making vermicompost then more is better, but not for breeding. Using less makes it easier to sift the cocoons and is a lot cheaper. I keep reds 2” deep and Euros 3” deep. They both do very well. For growing them deeper is better.

This person has no idea what she is talking about saying there are too many worms. The worms will only produce enough worms to survive in that environment.

Normally I would agree with you; however, this is a breeder bin. I'm breeding them for growth and cocoons. In these bins, I put in a certain amount of worms and keep them in there for a specific length of time. Thanks for your comments, which reminds me to state what type of bins I'm showing in my videos.
