Completely changed the look of these Aldens. Let’s welcome “VinVello” also known as the holy grail.
Alden Ravello long wings. These were fun to work one. Added split welt, also stitched the vertical part of the welt. Leather mid soles, leather heel bases, JR soles and Dovetail heels. Also added sold brass eyelets.

I appreciate the customer response. Not only was he excited but he demonstrated that your customers are not randomly making the decision to have you do work for them, they are thoughtfully choosing an artisan to produce exquisite end products. People that hate on your videos and disrespect your customers with negative comments need to find something to be passionate about.

Steve, Imma be completely honest with you -- your videos are one of only a handful of things that relax me after long days of dealing with my engineering studies. You may feel that it's repetitious, but each shoe you do is slightly different in its own way in my eyes and the way approach each repair has a level of detail that I aspire to in my own work. So thank you for uploading everything that you do. And your editing quirks are just another thing that makes your videos endearing -- I don't have to hear intro music, ad space, or over the top commentary -- just a chill time fixing some shoes, boots, jackets, or bags.

Even though you "resole" shoes, you add enough variations alone the way, like resoling new shoes, that we learn something new each time (new shoes come apart easily and cleanly). And the truth is I like listening to you and your outlook on life while you do your craft. My dad always said to do the best you can each and every time and you do that, knowing that not everything is perfect, but you try each time to achieve perfection. You inspire met to be better in my leather work, and I love your sense of humor, thank you!

Of course it is a word and you used it correctly. Hoarse means your voice is rough or gravelly. Horse is an animal for a cowboy or girl to ride, and it provides us with horsehide leather. Please do not doubt yourself, you know a lot of things not just beautiful leather work and repair. However, your humility is one of the nicest things about you. I do not watch to see shoes fixed. I watch to see a highly skilled craftsman work hard at a complicated trade to make his customers happy and do it with a smile., Thank you for sharing part of your world with us. Kind of upsetting when some people criticize others for how the spend their own money. I totally understand why this gentleman did what he did. It is actually makes great financial sense. Take my Indy’s for example. As Steve can verify, I am into those for approximately $1200. I am planning on getting new soles every four year’s at a cost of roughly $200. That equals $50/year on shoe maintenance. Then I can go on wearing the same footwear. On the other hand, I could go to a place like JC Penney and get an okay pair of boots for about $100. These boots of course would not be able to be resoled and are pretty much disposable and I would have to buy a new pair every year. So, in four years, I could spend $400 in footwear from the local retail store or save $200 and get them resoled. $400 vs. $200. Easy math. Plus I will recoup my initial investment after four resoles. With the other shoes, that money goes into the trash with the shoes in a year.

If there were ever a pair of the original "brassvello" from 2012 for sale on eBay it would easily fetch north of $2000+ maybe more. Just search eBay for "Ravello Shell" and you'll see the market prices. Much rather have Steve do the modifications since Alden is a very strict with exclusive runs and limited releases. So believe it or not, I saved money here!

Cool story - Remember that just because someone has an opinion different to yours doesn’t make it criticism especially if it’s facts made by a subject matter expert. For the price of those dress shoes, they are lacking in quality construction, that’s a fact and doesn’t reflect on the buyer nor is it inflammatory to say the shoes are lacking.
