Bee-eaters are aptly named, as their diet consists primarily of bees and other flying insects. They are also known for their unique hunting technique, which involves perching on a branch or wire and scanning the sky for prey. Once they spot a suitable target, they swoop down to capture it in mid-air, then return to their perch to devour it.
In Wilpattu National Park, bee-eaters can be found in a variety of habitats, from open grasslands to dense forested areas. They are most commonly seen during the park's dry season, which runs from May to September.
