I don't think you need to "review" it. I think you just need to enjoy it. It's all part of the backstory, and you can see why they were born to perform and sing.

It's so funny to know this part of the brothers story but to hear reactors wonder how their harmonies can be so good - well now you see the reason, they started a little kids, 9 and 7, and so by the time they were 18 and 16, they had it all down pat. I grew up in the 60's and 70's but I never knew much about them. Now, I can't believe what I missed.

THANK You for reacting to this clip! Back then, Robin was the major clown during performances, while Maurice was the serious one (for the most part...). As time went on, Maurice turned into the joker during their stage appearances - having fun in front of the cameras (and the audience...) at his brother's expense... However, all three brothers (and Andy, too...) showed a sense of humor that could've easily made them all famous as professional stand up comedians. (Check out interviews done with Phil Donahue [and others...] that are available on KZfaq...) These three weren't only Musical Geniuses, creating one musical Masterpiece after another - they had fun (at times roaring with laughter...) while doing it, too... 💖💖💖

Now you know how long they had the harmonies down pat. Born to it. This is Brisbane, Australia 1963. Remember seeing this on Brisbane television when I was 9/10. Love their version of Lonnie Doneghan's My Old Man's a Dustman. Lonnie was a brilliant English skittle singer who Tom Jones mentioned he sang with on Britain's Got Talent recently when they auditioned Lonnie's son. We were lucky in Australia to have great music on the radio and television from the UK, USA, NZ and local talent like the Bee Gees.

My old man's a dustman was originally sung by Lonnie Donnegon he had a hit with it, but our boys was dam good as k7ds, but oh my they are totally the best group ever, i grew up listening to them, was not a beatles fan, it was always the Bee Gees for me, still is 8n 2023 at 69 years old

They sounded like adorable little munchkins. And, it's interesting that Maurice is taller than Robin there; but when they were grown, Robin was taller than Maurice.

The Bee Gees Song Nights on Broadway was when they discovered it. The Producer asked if they could scream or sound excited. Barry said he thought they could do it. They just started Harmonizing Higher and Higher. They discovered they all had the Falsettos but Barry could do it longer. It could have been when Barry said he thought he could do it that he may have remembered playing around with sounds. Barry Gibb in an interview in December said the Bee Gees just played around making different sounds and trying to match it. Their song fanny Be Tender With My Love was one of their first songs using the Falsetto more.

So young...so at ease performing...this shows definite flashes of their talents that would become future successes!

At this stage they'd been performing together for years and supporting the family. They were sharing dressing rooms with strippers! Their father would have to chaperone them in rough Aussie pubs and RSL clubs. Barry was imitating a woman's voice there and didn't develop the falsetto until Night's on Broadway when the producer wanted a scream in the song. I know.

There’s not another group like the Bee Gees!! These songs were not written by Barry, but if you react to BEE GEES 1960 you can see the earliest tv footage available (ages 13 and 10) singing one of Barry’s. They were the sole supporters of the family of 7 beginning at 12 and 9 years old. I believe they were all out of school by 1963 when this medley was filmed. They worked 7+ years in Australia barely getting by, then were millionaires within months of arriving in London. They never lost their connection to their childhood... even performed Alexander’s Ragtime Band on the Midnight Special in the early 70’s. Robin once said the show business is something you’re either born with, or you’re not. They obviously were!! Their acting abilities allow them to deliver songs with the appropriate emotion. They’re the total package. Barry’s ability to sing in falsetto was discovered when recording Nights On Broadway in 1974 or 75, but you have to listen to the studio version to hear it. Besides BEE GEES 1960, you may want to add BEE GEES DON’T SAY GOODBYE to your list:))

Just seeing this now - it’s so funny because they didn’t just act the wack on stage, they were little “criminals” off. They talk about it openly.. They loved setting fires, particularly where there were billboards.. they used to build a small fire and put bricks around it. One day they remembered to go to the swimming pool and rushed home to get their towels etc. On the way back they saw a crowd of people and the fire brigade trying to put out the fire. The billboards burned to the ground. “Aw no,” they said, “ We forgot to put the fire out” !!! Hahaha. Barry got 2yrs probation for stealing a kids car from someone’s drive. That someone was a police officer. Oh oh!! This all happened in Manchester. The Manchester police turned up at the Gibbs door after a while and suggested Mr & Mrs Gibb took the boys away before they ended up in reform school. That’s how the Gibbs ended up in Australia. They were so into music back then and wanted to be famous. Barry said to the twins one day while standing on a bridge: Listen, we can start being good and concentrate on getting famous. The boys agreed so Barry took the penknife he’d stole from Woolworths out of his pocket and threw it in the river. They never stole a thing since. A little aside to this: Maurice was a goody two shoes and terrified to do anything wrong - one day Barry and Robin egged him on to steal a bottle of orange juice from a woman’s doorstep. He did and in Maurices words: It was the first thing I ever stole and got nicked”. Poor Maurice!!! Haha hilarious when you see them now in old interviews recalling those days.

I have even younger videos of them. 😊❤ Their mom made all the waist coats and butchered a pair of gold evening shoes to make the gold "BG" monograms. ** Only 30 songs?? LOL (They wrote over 1000 - hang in there!! 🙏)

BTW, you HAVE TO react to “Lovers” immediately.🚨🚨🚨 Robin’s vocal breaks on that song are plastic, elastic and spastic. And Barry sounds like a cross between Stevie Wonder and Boz Skaggs. I won't say you have to play and watch anything but my suggestion to bridge the gap of these early 60s of the Bee Gees to the time when the twins were young teenagers. The song is called 'Wine Women and Song'. You will be stunned by the change in voices as Robin and Maurice's voices have broken and you can see their careers were mapped out in front of them just ready for them to grasp. I think you will see why I am suggesting this. Maurice has learned to play guitar by this time. Big thank you if you manage to add this to your already long list.

Barry and Robin use to find places that echoed and practiced singing to see how they sounded. They did a song called 3 wishes of love that I remember from early 60's. I was 9 years younger than the twins.

At the tender age of eighteen I along with my mate were on holidays at the Gold Coast in Queensland we thought we could sing and entered a talent quest at our guest house , we were confident we would win when 3 kids called the Bee Gees performed My Old Mans a Dustman and won the show , obviously we have been telling anyone who will listen ever since that night in1962 that we were once the opening act for the now world famous Bee Gees , its sorta true ,its my story and I'm sticking to it .

Simply was that they were talented since their childhood.They loved music so so much with fun to perform in front of the public.Robin and Barry were always played together......and Maurice was a little bit serious....

Apart from the amazing voices, that we all know about, it's the professionalism, timing, harmonies and performance value that is amazing at this very young age. They had natural talent but must have practiced so hard to be as slick as this. They are so much more confident and mature (obviously) than in the 1960 clip.

These brothers had a God-given talent that the world hasn't seen since they did it so well because it was natrul to them.

The style of music around the late 50's in Britain and Oz was derived from skiffle which was a mix of folk, vaudeville, dancehall, country, you name it. The most famous proponent was a Brit, Lonnie Donnegan who took all kinds of music and adapted it to a sort of rockabilly style that was copied by the early Beatles, Bee Gees, even arguably the Everly's and Buddy Holly, and a lot of groups of the day. If you ever heard Lonnie Donnegan, he sang all kinds of stuff and updated it to new styles that caught on with a lot of groups. These songs were performed by Donnegan.

One of their compilation CDs covering this era was titled, "Brilliant from Birth." Nuff said.

This was just the start of good things to come for the Bee Gees. They sang for change at the race track. Barry said at that early age that they would become famous one day. This gives people a better respect for the Bee Gees and everything they have gone through to reach success. He didn't discover the falsetto until later in life Happy 2023!!! lol! Barry was 17 and the twins were 14! They started "performing" in 1968, singing at racetracks for the coins people tossed to them. Just tons of confidence and poise.

I tell you Chad , their first conscient falsetto was in the song DOGS from mr natural album, this falsetto was used in chorus, but in the next album called main course there was a incredible song called nighs on broadway, their co producer, Arif Mardin asked them for a voluntier to make a falsetto voice in this song, Barry was the voluntier and he made falsetto lead for the first time with conscient of that.

Barry’s falsetto was seriously developed and used in the song, “Nights on Broadway.” Barry is a Baritone where the twins are tenor!! These guys each have voices that are at least 6 octaves!! These men are top notch and none of them know how to read music!
