"Night Fever" brings the euphoric feeling of disco dancing to life by creating a song that brims with hooks. Those Bee Gees trademark falsetto, agile harmonies only add to a sky-high ear candy quotient of hip lyrics and infectious melody.

Travolta was already a teen heartthrob from starring in the hit sitcom "Welcome Back Kotter". When he did his first movie "Saturday Night Fever", he became a grown-up superstar.

She thinks she's heard of Saturday Night Fever. Every kid in the 6th grade back in my day had heard of it! Found an old school paper from back then the other day. The BeeGees were hands down the winner of the favorite music group survey.

One of the best beats ever! Whenever I’m on a walk and it comes on I get a little extra pep in my step. I love their Disco era songs but you should really check out some of their songs from the 60s and mid-70s. My suggestions would be: To Love Somebody (Barry) 67, I Started a Joke (Robin) 68 (Robin’s voice on this one is absolutely tearjerking), Fanny (Be Tender with My Love) (Barry, Robin, & Maurice) 75 (the harmonies on this one are amazing) and Nights on Broadway (Barry and Robin) 75 (one of my personal favorites). Enjoy! ✌🏼

Angela, you have entered the huge rabbit hole of the BeeGees. They outsold the Beatles if you can believe that. Legendary, Iconic, Timeless music. For everyone who was born and grew up from 1954-1991, we all know we were spoiled by having perhaps the greatest music of all time as the soundtrack of our lives. Sadly, we might never hear this kind of music ever again, but as it reaches your generation and the generations after, we all know you will come to love it as much as we did. Became a subscriber today! Now. Please react to John Denver "Looking For Space", Carpenters "Masquerade", Moody Blues "Nights in White Satin" and Sade "By Your Side" please. Thank you! :D

The interesting thing is The Bee Gees wrote all the songs except this one before the movie was created. The reason the soundtrack and movie gel is because the director rescripted the movie to fit the soundtrack. For those who were not around this movie was a cultural phenomenon…

When they were recording Staying Alive the drummer had to return to England because of his mothers health. The producers took a section of the drum beat from Night Fever and made loop to play with Staying Alive. If you listen to Staying Alive carefully you will notice that the drum beat is constant, it never changes throughout the entire song.

You mention "it gives you that "Stayin' Alive" feeling," and it's really true! Fun fact: When recording Stayin' Alive, the Bee Gees' drummer wasn't available. So, they found a suitable 2 bar drum loop from "Night Fever" and set it up to play on repeat on a separate tape machine. I believe that's the first recording to EVER use a drum loop, which of course is ubiquitous today.

I love everything the Bee Gees made from 1975 onward. Their work is a testament to how immigrants come to the USA, see and hear what's already going on (i.e. Motown and funk) and make cool culture for us. If they move on to Australia later, that's OK, they paid their dues to us.

Please listen to Bee Gees "How Deep is Your Love" (Official Video) - another musical gem from the Brothers Gibb. If interested in great harmonies, lyrics, guitars and stellar 70's song? THE EAGLES - "Hotel California" (LIVE 1977 version). Back to the Bee Gees, everyone I knew owned the "Saturday Night Fever" album and the songs were playing almost everywhere you went. It was the era where disco ruled and no group was bigger than the Bee Gees. They placed five songs in the Top Ten on Billboard - I'm SO glad I had a truly amazing soundtrack of great 1970's songs for my teen/young adult years!

This is my favorite Bee Gees song. Followed closely by "Lovers" and "Subway".
@keithcaserta3 жыл бұрын
"Saturday Night Fever" was the seminal movie of the disco era, though one could argue that it came at the end of that era (in the US - it might still be going on in Europe, depending on how you categorize their dance music). This wasn't the opening song of that movie ("Stayn' Alive" was) but it encapsulated the mood of the movie. The Bee Gees had a long career, spanning a couple decades. This, along with "Too Much Heaven," may have been their defining song(s).

Okay, this is more then a day late but I saw on some documentary that the reason you would get a "Staying Alive" feeling from "Night Fever" is because they didn't have a drummer for "Night Fever" so they took the drum beat from "Staying Alive". It was fun to watch because back then it was reel to reel so it was fun watching them piece it together.
@v.j.30292 жыл бұрын
After Saturday Night Fever, you have to watch the sequel called Staying Alive. It's more set in the 80's and is directed by Sylvester Stallone. It's such a good 80's cheese fest with a yummy Travolta. His body was insane back then!
