Funnily enough, The Bee Gees started with deeper voices only discovering falsetto abilities in the 70s. Maurice and Robin both harmonised on that deeper line. If you watch live version of Nights on Broadway, Barry is singing very deeply with Maurice doing the falsetto later. Robin had a unique voice which shows up on I started a joke and Massachusetts. The brothers were insanely gifted!

Robin is the DEEP VOICE on this, but in fact they all have the capacity of deep voice singing. Robin's is the most unique and you can really hear it in their older songs (60's) when Robin did most of the lead singing. This is a magnificent group who made contributions to the universe of music that is still not widely ENOUGH known. Especially with the younger generation. This is what AUTHENTIC talent looks like. And impeccable manners to boot. They were/are a CLASS ACT 100%.

It's one of the rare songs in which you can hear the range and depth of each Gibb's voice; Maurice stuns with great harmony and Robin, long considered the best singer in the group, also shines with a surprising depth not normally seen in the fragile timber of his voice.👍🏻🤩🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

For decades I thought I was the only one who loved and remembered this song, it was largely forgotten by even Bee Gees fans. I don’t know how it got so popular on reaction channels but it did. But my favorite part is the comments section where I find out there are others just like me….who call this their favorite. This just isn’t my favorite Bee Gees song, it’s my all time favorite song! I always figured that something else would come along and knock it off my top spot--but nothing ever did. This is pure perfection!!!

The Bee Gees do all ranges-- even the falsettos. The brothers have said in interviews that BOTH Barry and Robin are blending in the deep "chest" voices -- lots of layering over of tracks. I think I heard in that interview 16?? Barry and Robin interchange a lot with "chest" and "head" voices with Maurice adding his harmonies too. They SELDOM sang this song live. Too hard. I listen to the official tract and put my best headphones and JAM. When I remember which interview, I will send you the link. I think Maurice and Robin explain it.

Thanks for posting this. I grew up in the south, and the country rock crowd and, to some extent, the general public made fun of these guys relentlessly in the mid to late seventies. I bought most of their albums regardless of the hate. Most people in the USA my age only associated the Bee Gees with Saturday Night Fever, meaning they were only disco types. But even their disco songs were good. This group was so talented on so many levels over many decades.

Good to see the Bee Gees being recognized, belatedly, for what they are. And yes, the basis of those huge low-pitched rich notes is (dearest) Robin, that slim, slight figure in the middle. His natural range goes from the depths of baritone to near the top of Barry's falsetto. When Robin sings (with his operatic head-voice) in unison with Barry's falsetto it's unbelievable. I had to learn to recognize it. Similarly, the harmonic roar when all three (but anchored by Robin) sing it tight harmony at the low end is, to me, more amazing and carries more emotion than the high stuff. Fanny be Tender is also my favorite. But for an easier lesson on how the brothers' voices work together, try "Don't Fall in Love With Me" on the Living Eyes album. Also listen hard to Wildflower, another Living Eyes track. That's a rare one led by Maurice, whose voice is sweet, sweet, if not as unique as the other two. But he could have been a solo recording artist if he'd chosen that path. I'm glad he didn't. That voice is so good at blending that it's in many ways the glue that holds these songs together.

RT, this is also my #1 Bee Gees song! (For what it's worth, it was also their mother's favorite.) As for who is singing which parts, it's really hard to tell with this footage because it's been overdubbed with the studio version of the song. The Bee Gees rarely played this song live, because it was too hard to replicate on stage all the vocal layering they were able to accomplish in the studio. Having said that, the deep part might be more than one brother, but if it was only one, then my money would go on Maurice.

To answer your question of, "Whom has the deep voice?" The deep and high sound voices come from Barry, the tallest and older of the brothers. He was pretty humble, so he probably didn't want the camera focused on him all the time. He pretty much wrote most of their songs too. They all were very talented, but in my humble opinion without Barry Gibb, there won't be the Bee Gees we all know today. The guy was incredibly talented. By the way, I think they all complemented each other.

They couldn’t have been Bee Gees without all three of them. I think in this song Robin and Barry did the low voice you can tell it is both. Also Maurice told it in an interview. You're funny, and I can think of no better description than "they went to church!" I love the Bee Gees. I have always loved the Bee Gees and I'm 70 years old There will never be another group like them. EVER. Today's song writers (with the possible exception of Ed Sheeran) either have never experienced their level of loving or they're too cowardly to articulate it. I hurt for Barry's loss. And I loved and appreciated the comments he made on an old Mike Douglass show interview where he openly and unashamedly honored and credited R&B (aka "Soul Music") music and vocalists as a pattern for the way he'd adlib and use his falsetto. Check out young Robin Gibb singing the song Somewhere. He was 16 and his voice is just incredible. That was still Robin singing low, they just didn't put the camera on him at that time. Robin had incredible range!!

One comment says Robin and Maurice, and another says Barry. I think it’s Robin and Barry together. The two of them often sang together exactly the same, and usually in the same mic, so sounding like only one voice. Maurice was certainly part of the mix at times, but he usually came in for three part harmonies. Robin had the widest range - higher and lower than his brothers, but didn’t do much in the lower except in the first couple of years after his voice changed, then stayed with his signature and very unique sound. Their first song with a solo part by Robin is WINE AND WOMEN. There’s a video from an Australian tv performance before they returned to England and went international. It’s also the first guitar (or bass?) solo by Maurice. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE react to it!!!

Maurice said Robin and Barry sang together on the line, Fanny be tender with my love. That was the higher part. He didn't say who song that lower opera sounding voice, but it sounds like Robin for sure.

Maurice was singing falsetto as well as harmony and deep part. Robin had a tendency to sing softly so he could come in on time with his voice.

Robin and Barry would sing simultaneously at times and sounded like one voice according to Maurice Gibb. Check out the recent HBO Documentary about them called “Bee Gees How Can You Mend a Broken Heart.” It is amazing and up for 6 Emmys.

The real deep voice was actually Barry. There is a later live video of them singing Fanny and Barry's deep voice is very distinct. There are not many songs that you can hear his baritone voice but very distinct from Maurice and Robin. How Can You Mend A Broken heart is another where Barry switches from Baritone to his High Pitched Falsetto.

That was Barry singing "Cause it's all that I got & my love won't forsake me" It's probably the worst music video because they had more than one track of vocals overlapped in the studio and why they never played this song in concert but Quincy Jones said, "This Is The Most Perfect R&B Song He Ever Heard" It's a masterpiece anyhow!
