Albhy Galuten said Mo and Barry as well as the other musicians would become so involved with their own parts and instrumentation that they could get lost in what they were doing and things could get off track. He said Robin was the objective production ear. He was very active in the writing but much less involved with the instruments. The musicians were so close to the music and playing that they can't always tell what sounds good. Robin could come in and call it in a second and say "It doesn't work or it's great, and he was always right". When Robin was sick and Barry and Mo in the US they wrote 6 songs and Mo said they just weren't right. Robin came back rearranged them and they became great songs. Not a big musician but certainly had the ear. Barry and Mo were the musicians. What Galuten said simply reinforced the fact that all three were interconnected and essential. Notice the little pun they picked up on "Albhy....I'll be counting" @8:30? Robin - "A little more saliva under the tongue".

🥀I have to admit that The Brothers Bee Gees did a remarkable job on every song they did with not being able to be in touch with studio as I've lived in most of my life. In the 80s I watched many ppl in music in the control room while they were in the studio cutting 32 to 36 different tracks through bullet proof glass a sound board over $285,000 every control you needed and still to this day I've seen the Bee Gees do phenomenal work & I'll say it a million times they truly don't need a studio as far as I'm concerned. They knew exactly what that wanted and they were slamming every song! They were dayamm good. Thank's for posting this video because maybe some ppl don't fully understand what I'm saying. Ttyl..🥀☝️

This video has been uploaded numerous times by different people. Loved the interaction between all involved. How quickly they wrote the lyrics once the instrumental was complete. The idea that they could not read or write music probably contributed to how creative they were. Happy you had a great weekend and happy you are back.👍and yes Blue and Alan

Missed you too. We were there with in spirit. Loved that you included a little brothers. There isn't a better love song than "How Deep is Your Love." I can't tell you how many times I have watched this Tragedy video. First the shallow - Barry never looked better!! (the hair, the hair). Okay that's out of the way. Tragedy was sooo big in 1979. I listened to "Spirits" most every day. Watching part of how these geniuses put it together has been inspiring, and also I like that they worked hard, but didn't take themselves so seriously. Their humor is on display. Yes, Chad, that's Blue on the synth. Don't you love that they had all the music tracks done, and THEN put lyrics together. Yes, you're in Criteria. Last thing, notice they did their tracks together at the same time. They were so good, one of them just didn't goof up. Thanks for this. Even if it does get taken down, at least you got to enjoy it.

Ahhhh, so glad to see you do a reaction on this one, Chad! Watching your expressions as you watch the video was great. The work that went into the physical part of making tracks and creating your own work was amazing in those days. Every generation has their own challenges as a musician and a writer. Not that artists are not putting in the work now a days. One of my children is a tour manager and works with many different groups. It is interesting to hear their side of this new generation of musicians. But I do believe I have created the influence of the Bee Gees for at least one child of mine. Wedding receptions are a good place to hear Bee Gee songs. There are so many people who have no clue who The Bee Gees are. Congratulations to your sister and to all of you! Have a great weekend.

Hey mister, they didn't need no stinking computers! Their brains were all the computers they ever needed. Digitalization and compression takes the warmth and depth out of the music compared to vinyl and removes the human element. That's why vinyl is making a big comeback. All three recording at one mic harmonizing perfectly. That was Blue (Derek) Weaver. Tragedy was recorded at Criteria. Later the brothers created their own studio "Middle Ear". They sold it after Mo died. NO PYGMIES WERE HARMED IN THE RECORDING OF THIS SONG!

Hi Chad, good to have you back. I love this video having watched it a few times and I am more in awe. Barry Gibb know exactly what he wants. He really is a gifted genius. How did he even come up with the idea it needed an explosion in the middle? However he did it, it's great. I was listening him doing a podcast with Alec Baldwin in which he opened up a lot - during this interview he told Alec that he was sick of digital and he had had his recording story remodelled so that he could do the recording in tape again like the old days.
