Barry was actually voted as one of the sexiest men alive in the world, he looked absolutely stunning in this video, they are all good looking to me. I'm so lucky I was a teen in the 70s and grew up with all their music, I cried the day I found out Maurice died as I knew this was the end of the best group in the world!

So did I. I heard them on the radio in 67, when I was 7 and loved them ever since. I have only cried 3 times for people I didn't actually know. Mo, then Robin. And last year Meat Loaf. If Barry goes before me, I will be weeping again.

I understand perfectly what you both are saying. When Mo died it was the end. I wasn't into Barry. Robin was my heart throb. Fell in love with that voice in 1969. I started a joke was magic to me. I saw them in concert back in 1979 during their spirit tour

When Mo died it was the end of the Bee Gees, but Robin's move to alter & record Andy's song in '02 would make it impossible for Barry to work with him again. Robin knew it was wrong, which is why he never asked Barry & Mo before doing it. Other than Mo's passing, that was Barry's other reason to end it then. Robin got what he asked for, & karma will always win.

To Love Somebody was originally written for Otis Redding who sadly died before he could record it. They then decided to sing it themselves and it's been a standout in concert since. Later great songs of theirs are I Could Not Love you more, One, Bodyguard, You Win Again, My Lover's Prayer, Kiss of Life...there are so many and from different decades! And yes, Barry was a major heart throb along with little brother, Andy.

Good Lord, Barry was ff-ing gorgeous in this appearance! Love When You're Gone! The BeeGees were: the tallest and oldest brother (with the big hair and beard), Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb (with the long hair, no beard), born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (the balding brother with the beard, pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988. The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born. Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1966. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin' (and was also actually the first album on which their logo was introduced). From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bdSZi7aZnNy7gn0.html Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ja6PnZxhy6mtm2g.html, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rMx4iLZmssyUYIU.html. From their Still Waters album, Smoke and MIrrors: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g7ppqbV5uL2ykp8.html. From the 1960's I've gotta get a message to you kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eadkdqyfqdS4m2w.html. And from the 1990's the simple song Blue Island live in an accoustic version: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z5xies9yqtbKoo0.html.

You always leave out Robin's tragic train wreck and subsequent life long PTSD. Also Robin's fantastic and unequalled vibrato and the fact that he sang many of their early hit's in the 60's including their first #1, "Massachusetts" and again after the disco" era. The disco era and (some of) the falsetto were my least favorites. Also Mo was the musical genius who put Barry and Robin's songs to music.

I've recently watched several of your videos of the Bee Gees. As a long time Bee Gees fan (since the 60s) thought you might be interested - none of the brothers could read or write music. I'm still amazed that they were able to put out more than 25 albums of their own as well as write such beautiful songs for so many other great singers.

The 60s were the best era for The Bee Gees. Robin shared a lot of the lead with Barry back then. Barry’s voice is great, but Robin’s is a step above. The more you dive into The Bee Gees, you will see how versatile and beautiful Robin’s voice is, and how it stands out. All the songs Robin sang were the best. You have got to react to, I Can’t See Nobody, which showcases Robin’s haunting voice. It’s the best song ever made, with the exception to, You’re Still A Young Man by Tower of Power.

Robin has a beautiful haunting vulnerable sadness to his voice. They have a younger brother Andy Gibb that is 9 years younger than the twins and 12 years younger than Barry. He and Barry were very close and very much alike and Barry said it's almost like having a twin only 12 years apart in age. They even had identical birthmarks. Andy's first three songs hit number one. First one was I Just Wanna Be Your Everything. Can't wait to see you react to Andy.

I was around when Bee Gees were popular but for some reason, I never really got into them. I was strictly R&B. I really love them now more than I ever did in the 70's when I was in my 20's I recently heard the song "One" released in 1989 after they returned from their hiatus. That is now one of my favorite BeeGee songs. I'd love to see you review the official video of One. I think that you are a top-notch reviewer. They were run out of the industry for singing disco when people started hating disco and burning all disco albums in the late 1970's. Radio stopped playing their songs they were getting death threats and they stopped singing and started writing for other singers.

Arsenio was the shite and the show to be on! I remember him having artists on from every genre across the board! He was fun, so fine & classy. Your smile is so infectious! You have great insight on the greatest musical legends. Keep covering the Bee Gees. I can never tire of hearing their timeless music. Robin was, is and always will be my favorite. Then Maurice took second & Barry completed them. Loved Andy. Just cover everything from the Bee Gees because every song is a fave. Lol! Words is a powerful song but it isn't perceived by me as romantic, I think of singing this declaration of love & greater understanding for my adult sons. Lastly, I watched To Sir With Love for the 100th time because it showed up as a KZfaq free movie & of course, I couldn't resist watching it. I thought of you, @President Pat, seeing it because Maurice was married to LuLu & I wondered if you had heard the song & seen the legendary Sydney Poitier in this movie. What a fabulous man! I love all of his earlier films. The one with the German nuns that task him w/building the church, the one with the blind girl...I can't remember the titles right now, uughgh. I think he was in A raisen in the sun or was it I know why the caged bird sings? Jiminy crickets, I have trouble remembering the titles. Anyhoot, I hope you'll cover Sydney for Black History month. And what about Charlie Pride? Kiss An Angel Good Morning? He had no difficulty in making country fans fall in love with his vocals! I think he passed in 2020. May he r.i.p. Thanks for covering all the greats! This is something taken from my head & written to honor Black History Month and its' heroic contributors, (too many to name)! 😎💃👌 In far too many shameful ways, history deleted & dismissed their days of sufferings & heroic roles they played. Full of great talents & with patience like iron, they walked with an inner strength, casting bright rays of hope ahead, with their hearts they looked for freedom's day. Building this country, in bondage & chains, these slaves labored under the darkest reign, but oh how they sang out all their pain, "Freedom is my right". All while white masters denied any sight in this fellow human being having this right, yet black skin is flesh containing the same bone, same heart, same mind, same blood....yet this white flesh steals all that is rightfully mine? Cows are respected more than me, I am human, how can this be? Has the whole of man lost their sanity? These white folk changed the truth, & they falsified it with something new that they call true, but their lie, saw no more image of GOD in you, & some still think they are superior in their own view, and how they do hate the honor we decree upon those who paved the way for you & me; those who gave all until their own hope died in their graves, but not before they filled the hearts of their children born from slaves, with love, hope, a tenacious spirit for freedom....freedom. The freedom to life, love & hope as every human needs, an equal portion to diligently work for to increase my prosperity, it is the life, love, health & hope that I want for my family.....it is my legacy, it is the Image of GOD in me, the same image shared by we, humans.....when GOD created us, you see, HE didn't say that you were better than me, & just as HE doesn't force us to make HIM our authority, HE Loved every race when HE created we & gave us our Freedom. Happy Black History Month!

@@dp3396 - Two of his earliest songs "I am the world" and "I don't know why I bother with myself" were written solely by Robin when he was only 15. "Robin's Reign" (and "Sing Slowly Sisters") were entirely written by him as was his #2 hit "Saved by the Bell" which Barry said was his favorite of Robin songs, and he did some writing for others like "Hold on to my Love" with Blue Weaver for Jimmy Ruffin. He also wrote and/or cowrote the songs on his last posthumous LP, 50 St Catherine's Drive, which has some beautiful songs and his other solo LP's, often with Mo. A lot of the 80's era songs Barry wrote were cowritten with Robin (at least 4 on the "Guilty" album including the 2 hits off that LP, "Guilty and "Woman in Love") or alternately often with Karl Richardson and/or Albhy Galuten. In one of their bios Barry said Robin wrote and sang Massachusetts to him and he loved it but Mo didn't. Then they finished it together in NYC. He is also credited as the main writer for "I started a joke" and "Got to get a message to you". The later was another Baz and Mo were leery about until Robin explained it was a love song. Barry said Robin was an excellent songwriter and lyricist because he had an excellent vocabulary and was so loquacious. Barry did the demos for female artists using his falsetto voice. He also took over the production jobs. I just feel credit where due without demeaning or excluding others.

There's no denying if Barry hadn't had the drive & ambition he did from a young age (when he basically took on the role of "head of the household" & as a father, since their own father wasn't able to) that they would've ever achieved the level of fame & fortune they did with either of the twins at the helm. They all deserve their accolades....but especially Sir Barry since he's still with us.☺️

@@kthor 😍👍Thank you for all you wrote. It's gratifying to get the support, and yours is so well- reasoned. I am embarrassed by the caustic / jealous commentary of some fans-- comments that can turn off reaction persons from even doing more Bee Gees music. I suspect it's already happened. So sad. I have to stress that I am not referring to fans expressing preferences and praising favorites. Team B or R or M. -- Please, please keep it kind-- praising one brother is great, as is recommending songs he shines in -- and not the issue here.
