One thing you didn't mention that is important is choosing lightweight, natural fabrics - cotton, linen, gauze - as well as loose clothing. I live in a very hot climate (southern Nevada). I love your idea to make outfits more interesting in the summer because sometimes it gets pretty boring. I wear a lot of loose dresses, and a lightweight vest works well. I am also glad you love brooches. I am going to try using them more. Thanks.

My most used accessory last summer was my handmade (not by me) lace umbrella! Always a statement piece and a MUST HAVE during heat waves! Honestly, it makes such a big difference that it really makes sense that ladies of the past used them

My tip for as we get back into the summer: a light colored, breathable hat or head scarf can actually keep you cooler than going bareheaded, especially if you have dark hair

Another alternative for adding some color and artsy boldness to an outfit is some fun eyeshadow/eyeliner or lipstick! Unlike foudation it will not add heat to the look, and can lead to some interesting rainbow color combos that you can switch out on a whim! Nothing like some bright, pastel, or unexpected contrasting makeup tones to give an outfit some extra flexibility and boldness, along with all the other tips you mentioned ❤

Great tips! Thanks! I love layers for styling and appreciate the strip down in summer! One extra idea for some: I use headbands, which are a bit cooler than scarves. Extra, extra: with my pixie haircut it is unexpected, so reads totally extra!

11:24 Yesss I love this technique! My example isnt really a summer look, but I have a short pink dress the also has the same hue as a pink in a funky sweater I own, and I even have some pink fingerless gloves that are, again, a very similar kind of pink. Its super fun to mess around with the looks of stuff and combine both feminine and masculine looks

If you have multiple piercing you CAN layer earrings as well 😅 or you can use those pieces that hang behind your earring.

I think a key modifier here is that, in the hottest weather, all bets are off. remember sunscreen and water bottle. Jewelry that's otherwise fine may irritate skin, and I've even had reactions to gold rings with groove against my fingers and shoe buckles of sandals. Layers need to be chosen for function and easily removable to accommodate the need to avoid sunburn, but also come off when sweat becomes an issue. This is when a simple cotton dress, thrown on on it's own will save you, with maybe a superlight sun-protection layer and air-conditioning shield in your bag, like an oversized button-down. Remember that at least one pair of quality eyewear sunglasses may be important, as some fashion pairs have cheap lenses that stress your eyes and cause headaches over time, which you could erroneously attribute to just your body's heat response. Short, skimpy and one-piece items get a LOT of use on these days.

I live in Arizona, I highly recommend a light colored linen button up shirt on extremely hot days. It's cooler than just a bra sometimes, plus you can get it damp and it feels so nice. Also loosely woven straw hats or a parasol make a huge difference. I also like to wear a bandana full of ice if I have to go out in the heat, along with an over the shoulder water bottle sling

My biggest struggle in summer is that I sweat underneath the bag (especially with backpacks). Like can I not even bring some stuff with me when I go out? ;-;

I know it's not the most convenient, but maybe you could go for a handheld bag? Or maybe a crossbody? It's still not 100% sweatproof, but at least it sits on the side, where one would sweat less compared to the back and pits.

Be careful wearing fully metal earrings in like 90-100⁰ heat I've definitely almost been burned by my earrings while standing in the sun for too long and having them dangle and hit my neck
