Amitabh Kant is a retired member of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He is an Indian bureaucrat and is well-known for his work in national initiatives like Startup India, Make In India, Incredible India, Kerala: God’s Own Country, and the Aspirational Districts Program.
Today’s episode was all about understanding how the Indian Government works towards the growth of the Economy. Amitabh sir opens up on what is the next big opportunity for the people of India and how they can exploit this opportunity by entering the industries that are booming at the current time. The greatest tourism marketing campaign in independent Indian history - “Kerala - God’s Own Country”; is the creation of Amitabh Kant when he was Tourism Secretary in Kerala. He is very largely responsible for putting Kerala on the global tourism map; and he is loved there (by the people) for that. And he speaks rather good Malayalam! Other Kerala cadre IAS/IPS products include Ajit Doval, Vinod Rai (CAG). They may have been born in other states, but it is not too less to say they were perfected in Kerala. Bharat Ma, you’re welcome. Edit: Turns out he was behind the “Incredible India” campaign as well when he was Joint Secretary at the Union Ministry of Tourism. This man, is something else.

It was great conversation! I am an Indian living out of India for a significant amount of my professional career. One very specific point emphasized here was an eye for quality. 100% agree that Indians need to accept that failure is part of business. It is not a taboo but a learning curve. There was a kid in my school who we all knew had some mental disability. He could not sit straight in class, never concentrate and spoke back to teachers. But he somehow passed and reached 10th grade with us. After 10th he did not go to regular college(PUC not under grad) but evening one as he was working on his dad business of fried food mfg. He was working in his dad business since school days as he hated school. Many of our classmates are abroad or in IT but this guy is earning equal amount or more in our city. He has automated some tasks and has expanded business, all while working and living in Tier-3 city where we grew up.

It was fantastic to hear Mr. Kant talk. His vision of the country and the work that needs to be done is exceptional. Just wish that his vision is passed down to ground level officers with whom a small business man like myself needs to deal with. I have a small business related to tourism and its very difficult to get permissions to grow the business. Old rules that make no sense still exist and unnecessary issues are created if one wants to grow in scale. None the less thank you for this wonderful and a very insightful conversation.

Hey Ranveer, I saw the talk show you did with Dr Alok Sharma. I myself being a medical aspirant seeing such a podcast is so exciting and motivating! Such gem of doctors exist in our country and are quite determined to help and cure people no matter what, is just wow! Here I would like to mention and request you to invite a doctor from Tamilnadu to your show. It will be a great talk. About the doctor: Dr. Salai Jaya Kalpana is a Siddha doctor from Tamilnadu. She has discovered or rather put together the ancient mudra therapy to medical experiments and have proven it to work scientifically! She is also a pioneer to have done this and has given it a name called the "Siddha Mudra". She is such a knowledgeable person and will have so many things to share. I insist you to convince and bring her to the show. I would love to see her talk here and the fam is going to love it as well! Cheers!

Amitabh SIr the reason why India's G20 has been such a huge success. Delhi declaration has been adopted by all member countries unilaterally. There has been 100% consensus thanks to the negotiations with different power blocs. Amitabh Sir was our sherpa and he pulled it off for the country. What a huge diplomatic victory for Bharat!! Modi ji is a true genius for identifying such talent and then promoting and nurturing them. This podcast was truly motivating. Thanx Ranveer.

Circular economy is most important. For going GREEN. Criminalize planned obsolescence. Every product must be made for easy servicing without wasting entire modular portions. It wasn't believed at a Global Level that G20 2023 would have no mention of Russia Ukraine war. It was just considered impossible. Imagine Amitabh Kant's sir's efforts with 200 hours of negotiations and adopting Delhi Declaration. Salute to him and other negotiators for dealing with the toughest and most professional negotiators from the world. Because of bureaucrats like them, India is considered today a true peace maker 🇮🇳
