Partial breakdown: Drake gave future his first #1 hit. It was friend zone in his city because before him and Kendrick were cool and now he’s switched up. How are you big stepping with a size seven man’s on? (Reference to Mr. Morale and the big steppers, but Kendrick is short so he wears small shoes) In Kendrick’s diss he said he was snatching chains and burning tattoos, drake says he isn’t capable of taking any one in his groups chain. (You ain’t taking no chains off of us) My pictures on the wall when y’all cook up (I’m yalls inspiration) TOP told you drop and give ‘em 50 like some push-ups (popular saying drop and give me 50 push ups, but drake is also insinuating that Kendrick has to give his label 50%) pull the contract so we can see the split, you’re splitting so much you’re gonna rip your pants. (Again, he’s loosing a lot to his label) Show inside the bity is apparently about him supposedly being connected to the bloods (bity instead of city) so he can’t really go anywhere and preform that’s not blood territory. I’m not sure about that one but I saw some people saying that.

“Maroon 5 need a verse and make it witty, then we need a verse for the swiftieeees” for one, drake is getting ahead of the surefire diss Kendrick will use, saying drake is a pop star and not a rapper. Using the pop songs he’s been on against him. Secondly, drake is again poking fun at how much control Kendrick’s label has over him. Basically saying if your label tells you to jump you say how high. So even if Kendrick wants to just make deep artistic rap music, he has to get on pop tracks because his label says so. And then he goes and makes their 50% for them. “Sza, Travis, and savage got you wiped down” he’s saying that all three do bigger numbers than him and would all deserve the spot more. I’m pretty sure sza is also apart of the same label as Kendrick so I think that’s why he said sza specifically. Big difference between mike then and mike now could be a few things, but I take it to mean either the difference between Michael Jackson at the beginning vs end of his career (popularity wise) or the difference between Michael Jackson (then) and drake (representing Michael Jackson) now (playing off Kendrick dissing him saying prince outlived Michael) “What’s a prince to a king, he’s a son” literally a prince is a kings son, but also Michael Jackson’s ( the KING of pop) actual son is named prince. Apparently he’s also saying that the weekends manager was chubs’ (drakes bodyguard?) blunt runner/errand boy. “The shit we do for bitches, he’s doing for dudes” ( talking about the weekend) buying cars, chains, etc like he’s trying to have sex with them and trying to impress them. “Wicked wicked wicked” I think that was him mocking future?? Because I think future copied something drake said in a song before.
