The piece... or movement? Beethoven 5 is one of the most well known pieces of all time, mostly because of the opening, and yes, 4th movement is underrated, but the piece as a whole is _very_ well recognized.

He had a crisis just before writing the 5th symphony... he almost killed himself... in fact, this piece represents his triumph over death... by the time he wrote the 9th symphony he was completely deaf and by the time of its premiere he didnt hear a single note... quite depressing for a composer... theres a great documentary by the BBC about his life

It’s amazing how many influences to modern day composers you can hear in this piece. Some of these chord progressions are straight out of a John Williams score. It’s absolutely inexplicable how ahead of his time this man was. The musical genius of humanity.

@@martinbernardino1 I think you're mixed up. The symphony didn't exist in the Baroque era, and was largely invented by Haydn. CPE Bach most certainly didn't write his first symphony at 7. You're thinking of Mozart, who did his first at 8.

The previous 3 movements are written in a very solemn c minor, and here you have a the fourth movement starting with a c major. It truly starts and ends with a bang, and is one of the most triumphant pieces out there. Also, for his time, this was a fairly modern sounding movement.

I don't like when people mix modern music with the genius classical music. Modern music is no match for the true beauty classical music unleashes.

1st movement - Gigantic battle against fate. Very intense and ends with Beethoven losing. 2nd movement - Beethoven is living in his own dream world so he can collect all his energies to fight again. 3rd movement - Suddenly the fight continues, and we all know only one can stand by the end of this movement. 4th movement - VICTORY!!!!!!!

This is true freedom of expression of a genius. Not a desire to conquer anything. He did not need to write this piece for money or love, he did not care for those things. Only his own freedom from classical simplicity and human shallowness. Some people may use it in wrong ways but is only Beethoven self on it like a GOD.

+Covellechi Bach wasn't revolutionary. His contemporaries found him a bore because he was still refining elements from the Baroque era while most other popular composers were pursuing the new Classical style.

+James Clift i see your point. Haydn I would consider to be the composer who started the classical era. But Bach, being a composer at the end of the Baroque era, I think, was sort of giving a different sound to the time. When listening to works by Corelli, Buxtehude, Vivaldi, I notice differences when compared to Bach's work. I think Bach modernized music in a sense. He may have just been changing around the baroque elements a little, while others were progressing, but his approach is what I think revolutionized music. Just think: what would classical music have been like without Bach?

Vigoureuse interprétation . Quelle puissance scandée dans l'énergie libératrice avec le renfort des cuivres- tromboniste excellents et timbales. J'y vois l'amorce de l'hymne à la joie. Beethoven à su vaincre son destin, en affirmant son état d'artiste indépendant et en surmontant et sublimant son handicap. Victoire malgré un renoncement certain à la vie publique. Dans ce finale, nous assistons aux réjouissances triomphants digne de VICTORY, à travers le choix irrévocable de vivre pour dire tout ce qu'à encore à dire le compositeur.
