So unbearable pain 😭 it's not just charming sad chords. It's just his all saddens and agony. It's a masterpiece. Not over played.

Not so easy to play. Really proves the quality of the pianist - most notes needing to be very evenly and lightly struck, but with certain melodic lines needing to be lifted out. Beautifully played sir. And superb technique!

I like Paul Barton version compared to other pianist. Most pianist take prior in technical skill(accuracy and speed) over expression (feeling). They seems like play too rush or too fast. Paul Barton has a good balance in both with accuracy and an expressive impression of his own style.

i think there are always fads in music and for a long time speed has become an obsession to the detriment of much of the late classic and early romantics which sound better when speed gives way subtlety.

Beethoven. Saludos cordiales para todos.

Mr. Paul Barton, I have asked you about Norma’s reminiscences by Liszt (Bellini) in the video of your interpretation of the third movement of this same gorgeous Beethoven’s Sonata. Attending to the possibility of that my request might be not pleased, and totally understandable in what I concern. Could I know, instead, your opinion about it? Always grateful of your videos. My greetings.

I always wonder what happened to beethoven when he composed the 2nd movement, incredibly ugly and boring compared to 1st and 3rd
@pianojam2181
@pianojam2181 4 жыл бұрын
@Lamarindo Beethoven wrote the second movement as a contrasting middle section. When you actually learn about classical form and Beethoven’s contribution to the development of the sonata and sonata form itself, you’ll actually be less ignorant and maybe appreciate his genius so much more. The second movement is a scherzo written in C-sharp major (enharmonically related to D-flat major, and because it’s easier to read that way Beethoven kept the flats). Another way it eminates contrast is the extreme legato and staccato contrast in the thematic material. The entire movement contrasts the first movement due to it’s more upbeat character, and contrasts the third movement because it is much more stable in terms of speed, rhythm and harmony. It links the two outer movements, and works as a sort of “pallet cleanser” in my opinion. I hope that you one day understand that Beethoven didn’t compose ugly music. His music, as with all music, can only be appreciated once it is understood and admired properly. I hope you manage to educate yourself.
