fiasco 1985 wait till you get into the real engineering courses. I thought things like calculus and organic chemistry were tough, but classes like fluid flow and materials science make you take all that tough math you learned and just use it casually to solve a problem and derive equation. Engineering is tough, but it’s also really cool once you get into it deep

What kind of moonlight was Beethoven experiencing? The third movement is like the moon crashing into the earth.

Rishi Nixon Beethoven never called this the moonlight sonata, it was named afterwards. Also, it mostly refers to the first movement.

Imagine hearing this for the first time in a concert hall in 1801, and never being able to hear it again played the same way. Maybe not even being able to hear it again at all, even in a different interpretation, for many months. Thank the Lord for the audio recorder. I just put it on repeat 10 times😍. Towards the end the individual was growing tired, close to their last breath, but wanted to reign havoc just one last time.... then ultimately, death. That tells me that the person was still feeling something even in their stage of insanity; to be able to grow tired. They weren't completely gone. But it got the best of them in the end, and it took their life.

This song has been my grandmas favorite, she loved to play it for me when I was young, and when I got older I learned to play this for her and she sat on her bed in delight. When I turned 11 my grandma was diagnosed with bone cancer. She sat at the hospital in pain, she listened to me playing the song on my phone. While everyone was sitting in the room, she felt that she was going to pass away, and her last words were, thank you for caring for me, I love you. I am now thirty five with my 5 year old daughter named luna. Thank you grandma, I miss you.

To me, it feels aggressively sad. Like having a mental breakdown after a huge fight with your loves one, leaving you alone in your room, throwing bottles against the wall out of frustration, knowing that it could mean the end.

Be careful with that, I had piano lessons for years and couldn't read notes. Playing by memory is ok for most easy peaces, but there is a limit for that. I'm currently learning to read notes and playing is much easier now, I Just with I would have done it right from the beginning.

I'm self taught from videos like this. I'd say if its self motivated then just leaving him with videos can go very far. Having a piano teacher can often make it more of a chore than a joy. I'm sure both can work just fine and it varies for different people.

When I was a kid, almost fifty years ago now, I loathed piano lessons - they pushed back your homework so it took all night and they just ruined Saturdays. When I watch this, my hands start twitching involuntarily and I get mesmerised by the player's hands, and the animated notations, never mind MS itself. This is such a beautiful thing. I've been looking into learning again entirely due to this video.

There are numerous more complex pieces by other composers and by Beethoven himself, literally any of his symphonies or specially the 9th. Also, it's kind of obvious that the greatest piece of all time can't possibly be a piano sonata

For me it was despair-boredom-mania. I didn't find that second movement happy at all 😕 it felt more like someone just going through the motions of life. Was Beethoven bipolar, i wonder? 🤔

@@P.M.P.181 I was just about to say something about bipolar then you said it.. But for me the 2nd one is a happy and calming tune. Contrasting to the 1st depressing tune and 3rd one which is screaming out anger and sadness.

So he wrote 1&2 for his girlfriend and when he proposed to her she said no in favor of another man. He wrote movement 3 so complicated that she would never be able to play it in its entirety.
