The fact you can watch them both back to back and just think "they've added make-up to the cast and filmed them together" if you had never heard of the first film is brilliant. Everything about the CGI from the plane to the sand worm in the desert looked exactly like they where all shot in the same year is just fantastic

I saw the first part in the cinema, I was 17 and did not get it at all, I hated the film - but I never forgot it, it stayed with me and I can’t wait to see this one it with my son.

@@prosiescoteau2152 Visual effect (VFX) does not always mean CGI. Stop motion is VFX, not CGI for example. Original comment is on the money.

@@Misterobozo1 Don't take my word for it. Look through the IMDB credits and the type of work the VFX artists involved have done. Look into the multiple VFX productions houses that were commissioned to work on this. One of Us, Framestore, BUF, and Goldcrest VFX are not stop motion companies.

like literally feels like an acid trip or something like the fact they managed to maintain the same cast and it actually feels like a convincing addition to the original judging by the trailer is such a hard thing for me to process cause it just rarely ever happens-

Omg i absolutely cannot wait! I'm so happy it looks practical effects heavy and not all CGI. It looks exactly the same as the original as far as effects go and i am going to go see this in the theater!!! I reserved theater viewing for very few movies nowadays, but this one is a must!

Geena David decided not to be a part of the sequel because she aged and her body changed. She said it wouldn't have made sense for her to be there since ghosts aren't supposed to age. Alec Baldwin may have been too busy with legal issues and new babies. Also, aging could be the same issue. They did youth up Will Smith in one of his movies with CGI, so it was possible.

According to Alec Baldwin in 30 Rock, he fell out of his beauty bubble, and Geena Davis has said that, since they were dead in the film they shouldn’t age, so it would make no sense for her to appear in the film as an aged version of herself. I do hope there’s some reference to them in the new movie. They, in effect, became her parents and raised her because they wanted a family, while her mom and dad wanted to pursue their interests, which they were allowed to do because the ghosts were raising their daughter.
