I think the RE-202 is one of the best pedal designs in recent memory. They got everything right: the '70s-style enclosure, the Space Echo styling, the sound, the features, etc. The only reason I don't personally own one is because I have enough delay pedals (for now).

I ordered a Space Echo back in April and have been told that I may not get it until January 2023 due to a shortage in parts. Now that's what I call a long delay! So looking forward to getting it though. In the meantime, I've got a Nu-X Tape Core which is also based on the Roland Space Echo, and it's an excellent pedal for the price.

Space echo Tape echo has been my favourite effect for so long, I just love its movement, character , flutter, WOW!!! it’s probably because I’m a space cadet!!! The RE202 is the BOSS of Space/Tape Echo!!!! The Hive is open with the Beetronics ‘Swarm’ great sound fuzz and actually a new style sounding effect not cloned off so many earlier pedal circuits than have been done before. The Swarm is stinging the people and sounds like sweet honey, Buzzing!! Great sounding pedal!!! Another excellent JHS SHOW episode.

Rhett Shull, that horrible slide player,(sick burn), demo'd the Swarm about a year ago. His opening song, his best, IMO, IMPRESSED ME SO MUCH, I was on the phone with Sweetwater, ordering the Swarm! I absolutely love it! It's definitely a pedal you have to play to. Andy on Reverb does an awesome job of breaking down what every knob does. Just the fuzz circuit alone is a sick sounding Big Muff. You can place it anywhere in the chain! Thanks Josh for giving it a whirl. It's not an easy Pedal to master, but the tones/sounds, are infinite! Get on with your bad self josh! I'm not worthy, Guitar Dave 🎸 ✝️💯🤘🏼

Even when the video runs in the background its like my buddies from university are at my home again 20 something years later and schmoozing and hanging around 😊👍. The Swarm is almost as out there as the Lollygagger Cherry Box, a Fuzz I still covet long after it's release.Of the two, I'd say the Swarm is more immediately useable , while the CB gets into funkier and broader territory. It's cool that Beetronics keeps it reasonably affordable; currently digging the Veszpa.

Had the original way back when. Nothing like it. It was more road durable than people made it out to be. Azimuth adjustment, capstan and head cleaning had a big impact on tone. It was the Mellotron of delays. Didn’t have all the gizmos the modern ones I have now do, but back then it was so unique. Still is.

I'm curious how digital pedals are designed. Especially for smaller companies. Are they designing the algorithms in something like Reaktor/PureData/Max? Is the difference between two companies digital delay pedals something along the lines of one set the hidden internal constant for the high-pass filter frequency in the delay feedback loop to 87Hz and the other to 102Hz, but using basically the same sort of hardware and the same limited number of digital "modules"?
@Jack_S_Albert
@Jack_S_Albert Жыл бұрын
there are two type of digital approach - analog controlled by digital and full digital....I think most of them are made in C/C++, as microcontrollers and DSPs, and I know that some could do some PureData and port it to C/C++ with the correct hardware configurations...there are the fv-1 chips, a kind of DSP that are more democratic and easier to develop with, and many, many small and big companies are using them, sometimes with very similar hardware

Have you considered making pedals that work with 5v power banks? (Or make 9v ones) You would never run out of power during a gig and have to replace batteries. Plus, you would have clean power from batteries. I wonder if Eric Johnson would adopt this. 🙂
